I write on behalf of the Stonewall Democrats of Western New York, which, as
Ronald Groth you know, is the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Democratic voice
Treasurer
in western New York. The Stonewall Democrats work to further advance the civil
Thomas Peglowski rights movement and LGBT people in WNY area and government. I write you
Secretary today in support of the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA, H.R. 1024), and I
strongly urge you to sign on as a cosponsor to this urgent legislation.

You have been a great friend and ally to the LGBT community, and we are
counting on your much needed support in this Congress as we advocate for the
passage of UAFA, which will bring equality to the issue of immigration. No
person should ever have to choose between her or his family and country. Sadly,
this is the real life situation that many Americans—and a great number in your
district—find themselves in: having to choose between the person and the country
they love, as they are unable to share a life together with the person they love in
the land they love. UAFA will correct these grave wrongs, and stop the senseless
separation of countless American couples and families. Your support as a
cosponsor of this equitable legislation is critical.

Again, the Stonewall Democrats thank you for your great work in advancing the
civil rights of LGBT persons. As our Congressperson, we write you in strong
support of the Uniting American Families Act, and we respectfully ask that you
sign on as a cosponsor to this necessary legislation. We are hopeful that we can
count on your ability to take a stand for what is right, yet again, in supporting this
