Retroviruses are one of the most efficient tools for delivering genes into dividing mammalian cells. The pCHAC-MCS1-IRES-MCS2 Retroviral Expression Vector is a Moloney Murine Leukemia Virus (MMULV) based vector containing retroviral LTRs and packaging signal. In addition, the vector also includes two multiple cloning sites (MCS1 and MCS2 on the map below), that can be used to insert two cDNAs to be separated by an internal ribosomal entry site (IRES). This setup allows bicistronic expression from one transcript with the flexibility of putting different fluorescent protein, drug resistant gene, or other proteins either as the leading or trailing translation unit.
