Traffic Patterns Change in VOA Park

Butler County, Ohio (9/28/10) – Guests who use the athletic fields and dog park at the
MetroParks of Butler County Voice of America Park will find a new, more user-friendly
entrance to their favorite spots next time they visit. Last week work was completed on
crushed-gravel roadways re-locating the entrances for these park areas situated south of VOA
Park Drive. The new route is courtesy of ODOT which provided grant funds to MetroParks to
make repairs to existing, unimproved roadways.

“These changes allow us to eliminate the old entrance access route and retire and use of older
roadways that were high maintenance and costly for the park system to maintain,” said Jason
Boerger, Chief of Operations for MetroParks. The athletic fields at VOA Park are the site for
many local cross country, baseball and soccer games and tournaments throughout the year
along with popular events such as DogFest and KiteFest. Wiggly Field is one of the few off-
leash dog parks for residents and their furry friends in the county.

According to park estimates, thousands of guests use the athletic fields and dogpark weekly.
“This will not only reduce costs, but should also reduce the amount of complaints from guests
because the former roadway was in such poor condition,” Boerger said. The route to and from
the Ronald Reagan Lodge and adjacent lake at the park remain unchanged.
