The Members of the Diocesan Youth Apostolate
of Immaculate Conception Parish of Baganga
pushes for environmental protection as they
plant Mangroves along the coast line of
Longayon, Bobonao, Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Climate change, one of the press-
ing global issues today divides or unites
communities. From the 67th Infantry Bat-
talion’s situation though, the climate
change is a catalyst to unite with the com-
munities in taking steps to contribute in
lessening the looming threat to the next
generation by uniting with the youth to
plant mangroves along the coastline of
Longayon, Bobonao, Baganga, Davao
Oriental.
Mangroves or “bakawan” protects
the coast from erosion, storm surge, and
even tsumanis. The unique ecosystem

found at the mangrove roots provides habitat for

fish and other diverse wildlife even to some en-
dangered species.

These are just some of the benefits of

mangroves that prompted around sixty (60) mem-
bers of the Diocesan Youth Apostolate of the Im-
maculate Conception Parish of Baganga to join
