The spectrum below was taken of a compound with molecular mass 82. Draw the probable
structure of the compound giving reasons for your answer.

When looking at the IR spectrum, the C-H stretch was not of importance because all organic
molecules have it. The IR spectrum showed the 3022.47 cm-1 wavenumber which represents an
alkene, and the 1652 cm-1 also represented an isolated C double bond C. There is no other
spectrum associated with any functional group. So it is likely a hydrocarbon.
