Increasing and Decreasing Intervals:
A function is increasing on an interval if, for any x1 and x2 in the interval, x1<x2 implies f(x1) < f(x2).
A function is decreasing on an interval if, for any x1 and x2 in the interval, x1>x2 implies f(x1) > f(x2).
A function is constant on an interval if, for any x1 and x2 in the interval, f(x1) = f(x2).
EX2: Determine the open intervals on which each function is increasing, decreasing, or constant.

*** Note*** End behavior can also be used to determine whether a function is even or odd. (When graphed)
- If the ends of the graph are pointing the same direction, the function is even.
- If the ends of the graph are pointing in opposite directions, the function is odd.
A function value f(a) is called a relative minimum of f is there exists an interval (x 1,x2) that contains a such that x1<x<x2
implies that f(a) ≤ f(x). ** lowest point not including ends, can be more than one.
A function value f(a) is called a relative maximum of f is there exists an interval (x 1,x2) that contains a such that x1<x<x2
implies that f(a)≥f(x). ** highest point not including ends, can be more than one.
