Photo Story: Life Cycles

TSW create a digital photo story depicting a four step life cycle. The digital photo story will include photos and
descriptive sentences of the life cycle process.

The students finished digital photo story will be assessed using a rubric.

Materials:
Photo Story version 3; computer; Internet; website of images; digital camera (optional)

Assistive Technologies (special keyboard or mouse)

Enrichment Techniques:
Review writing complete sentences; spelling; capitalization and punctuation

Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students have access
to and are able to participate in the lesson):
Peer partner; extra time to complete assignment; use digital camera to take pictures for photo story in place of
finding and downloading web images.

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
Review what a life cycle is and what some examples of different life cycle are.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:

• Introduce assignment of creating a photo story about a life cycle.
• Students will write down what life cycle they would like to create their photo story around.
• Demonstrate the process of creating a photo story application. Walk students through the steps of selecting
pictures, adding text and effects, and adding music. Students will need teacher help to save their finished
projects.
• Provide the students with the rubric and discuss the requirements for the assignment.

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities


• Go to the computer lab and students will use the Photo Story program to create their digital photo story
about life cycles. This part of the lesson may take two days in the computer lab.

Closure:
• Students will present their final projects to the class.
