RE: PennDOT Legislative Unit
‘As you are aware, forsome time we have been in discussions with PennDOT and the Governor's
office concerning the viability of the legislative unit that handles the various types of
transportation work that we process for our constituents. Through those discussions we have
reached a compromise that not only preserves our ability to provide the core services upon which
‘our constituents rely but that also achieves notable cost savings.
‘You should have eoxved a eter ftom Transportation Secretary Allen Biehler that outlines the
key changes, namely the Friday, August 13" deadline after which our offices will no longer
process work for people and businesses that are fee-for-service operations, most of which are
fontracted agents of PennDOT. In nearly all cases, these contracted agents are charging
constituents an extra fe for their services.
‘Our caucuses will continue to work with PennDOT to ensure that all questions are answered and
that district office staff is given the tools they need to identify the type of work we can and
‘cannot accept. Additional information willbe provided to staff next week
Im the meantime, plase feel free to contact your eaucus PennDOT office, my office, or the
Minority Leader's office if you have any questions.
