Hansen (common name) Duchesne greenthread Family: Asteraceae (common name) Sunflower Family Synonyms: T. subnudum Gray vat. caespitosum (Dorn) Welsh; T. caespitosum Dorn Global Distribution: Endemic to Duchesne County, Utah, and Sweetwater County, Wyoming, Land Ownership: Ute Tribal Lands, FS - Ashley NF, BLM - Vernal Field Office, State Lands, and private Habitat: White shale slopes and ridges of the Green River Formation, around 5,900 feet elevation, May - June. Comments: This variety differs from var. pubescens in having leaves pubescent only on the petioles (or rarely on the proximal portion of the blade), rather than pubescent throughout, and in having more of a green rather than gray-green appearance.
