‘The Honourable Tony Clement
Minister of Industry
House of Commons
Ottawa, ON KIA 0A6
Dear Mr. Minister:
Tam writing you today on behalf of a number of my constituents who have expressed
‘concern regarding the decision to make completing the Census long form questionnaire a
voluntary exercise.
Statistics Canada is a world-class agency which produces valuable and reliable
information for all Canadians. A number of my constituents have indicated that they rely
on the information produced by Statistics Canada for professional and personal uses.
Please advise me of the rationale for changing the Census long form questionnair: to a
voluntary exercise, as well as the steps our government is taking to ensure that this
change will not negatively impact the quality or accuracy of Statistics Canada’s work, so
that I may relate the information to my constituents.
‘Thank you in advance for taking the time to address this inquiry. Please do not hesitate
to contact me if I may be of any assistance.
Yours truly,
Porte layth
