Whereas
the
SC
Republican
Party
holds
the
security
and
counting
of
every
voting
citizen’s
ballot
as
essential
to
the
equal
protection
of
every
citizen;
and
Whereas
the
SC
Republican
Party
is
committed
to
having
a
voting
system
that
ensures
that
only
legally
qualified
ballots
are
cast
in
order
to
protect
the
rights
of
all
voters;
and
Whereas
the
SC
Republican
Party
Executive
Committee
adopted
improvement
of
the
system
of
identifying
legally
qualified
voters,
“Voter
ID”
as
a
legislative
priority;
and
Whereas
the
SC
Republican
House
leadership
passed
strong
Voter
ID
legislation;
and
the
Republican
Senators
and
House
Members
on
the
conference
committee
adopted
strong
legislation
to
be
approved
by
both
bodies.
Whereas
even
though
there
are
more
than
enough
self-‐identified
Republican
Senators
in
the
Senate
Republican
Caucus
to
bring
the
conference
committee
report
to
a
final
vote
for
passage
,
the
legislation
failed
because
Senators
Knotts,
Leatherman,
O'Dell
and
Rankin
did
not
vote
with
their
Republican
colleagues
to
end
a
Democratic
filibuster.
Therefore,
be
it
resolved
that
the
SC
Republican
Party
Executive
Committee
praises
the
SC
Republican
House
for
expeditiously
seeking
to
remedy
the
deficiencies
in
South
Carolina
election
laws
in
protecting
ballots
of
legally
qualified
voters;
and
Be
it
further
resolved
that
the
SC
Republican
Executive
Committee
calls
upon
all
Republican
members
of
the
Senate
and
the
SC
General
Assembly
to
support
the
adoption
of
real
protections
for
every
legally
cast
ballot
in
South
Carolina
and
to
adopt
and
pass
the
conference
committee
report
on
H
3418.
