Re: Search Warrant Execution Results in Recovery of Cocaine and Marihuana

On Wednesday June 23rd, 2010 the Auburn Police Department’s Emergency Response
Team (ERT) and members of the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force (FLDTF) executed a
search warrant at 18 Nelson Street lower apartment in the City of Auburn. The search
warrant stemmed from a narcotics investigation at this residence.

Upon entry into the residence by ERT members one of the occupants of the apartment,
Charles Williams came around a corner towards police officers armed with a knife in his
hand. Two rounds were fired at Williams from an ERT members issued weapon but
Williams was not struck and immediately released the knife and complied with orders to
get on the floor. Williams was then immediately taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the residence resulted in the recovery of an undisclosed amount

of cocaine, marihuana and U.S. currency and the arrest of two individuals, Charles
Williams and the resident of the apartment Jessica Willis. Williams has an extensive
arrest history with 19 total arrests and a violent felony conviction for attempted robbery
in the 1st degree in 1994 which he served the maximum sentence of 15 years. Williams
was released from the custody of NYS DOCS in 2009.

Williams and Willis were transported to Auburn Police Headquarters where they were
processed and held in the Auburn Police Department jail pending their arraignment in
Auburn City Court on Thursday, June 24th, 2010. The investigation is continuing and
additional charges are pending.
