*2 Laminated Fabrics of your choice 1/3 yard of each (if you don’t have
laminated fabric on hand you can use iron on vinyl or attach vinyl to the
fabric of your choice-this is what we did).
*1/2 yard vinyl (we used 54” by the yard vinyl from Wal-mart “Blue”
label) or iron on vinyl would also work, and possibly be easier to work
with. If not using a laminated fabric.
*1 package extra-wide double fold bias tape in coordinating color
*1 spool coordinating thread
*Ribbon or embellishments of your choice
*Iron on adhesive
*2 scraps of fabric about 11/2” square for the magnet pouch.

Instructions:
If using Iron on Vinyl adhere the vinyl to fabric prior to cutting out
fabric and skip steps 7-9
1-Cut out Bib pattern pieces A and B and tape together along dotted line.
2-Position pattern piece on 1 fabric with right side of fabric facing up, and cut
out bib.
3- Position pattern piece on remaining piece of fabric with wrong side of
fabric facing up. Cut out bib shape. (this will be the back side of your bib).

4-Cut out enough iron on adhesive to adhere the two layers of bib fabric
together at the body, leaving a 1 inch border free of adhesive. Position your
piece of adhesive for the body and a thin strip of iron on adhesive for the
curve of the neck of bib between the two wrong sides of your material.
Adhere. (See Images 1&2)

5- Position your two magnets between the two layers of fabric. Your first
magnet will be placed at the end of the neck strap about 1/2-3/4” from the
end of the fabric. Position your second magnet about3/4” in from the tab on
the body of the bib. *Double check to ensure that the magnets meet up,
adjust if necessary. (See Image 3)

6-Lay the two swatches of scrap fabric on top of your magnets and triple
stitch a square around the magnet, attaching the magnet to the bottom layer
of fabric and separate from the top layer. This will create a small pouch to
keep your magnets securely in place. (See image 4)

Steps 7-9 are only necessary if you are using vinyl by the yard and
not iron on vinyl or laminated fabric
7-Sandwich your bib pieces between two layers of vinyl cut in a rectangle
about 1/2” larger on each side than your bib (if not using a plastic coated
material). (See Image 5)

8-Secure your bib’s position by pinning around the perimeter of the bib. (I
try not to pin in the bib area to prevent piercing the vinyl)(See Image 6)
9-Topstitch a line about 2” down from the neck of the bib to anchor the
material in place (this will prevent the fabric from shifting while feeding the
bulk of the material through your machine). (See image 7)

10-Topstitch around the perimeter of your bib about 1/4” away from the
edge.
11-Trim the excess vinyl from the bib.
12-Attach bias tape to the perimeter of the bib finishing edges.
