Based on the bloom taxonomy, LO1 is identified to be cognitive level 4, LO2 as cognitive level 5 while LO3 falls under cognitive level 3. There are a total of 100 multiple choice test questions which covers 10 weeks of lesson. Students are given two hours and thirty minutes to complete the multiple choice test.

Develop an assessment plan aligned to the learning outcomes for the
course/subject you teach. Refer to the attachments LO1 Identify major concepts of Islamic and Islamic civilizations LO2 Explain the importance and functions of different religions and culture in daily life LO3 Apply communication skills effectively in writing and conversation Justify the plan. Based on the Bloom Taxonomy, LO1 is identified to be cognitive level 4, LO2 as cognitive level 5 while LO3 falls under cognitive level 3. From the learning outcomes, three types of assessments are going to be used for the module. One is the traditional assessment which is the multiple choice test and another two are alternative assessments by assigning a group project to produce a report and to conduct a forum. This suits this module as three credit hour based module. Find justification. a) Multiple Choice Test Multiple choice test is a summative assessment to be conducted at the very end of the module. Multiple choice test is chosen because it allows effective coverage on each topic as LO1 includes topic 1 until topic 5 which makes up 90% of the module. It is the best instrument to measure LO1 as items can be constructed in various cognitive levels. There are a total of 100 multiple choice test questions which covers 10 weeks of lesson. A week of lesson will be represented by 10 questions and for every question, students are given one minute and thirty seconds to do. But how do I get this calculation? Nonetheless in total, students are given two hours and thirty minutes to complete the multiple choice test. The following table is the allocation of topics for 10 weeks of lesson: W1 W2 W3 W4 W5 W6 W7 W8 W9 W 10 Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic Topic 1 1 2 2 3 4 4 5 5 6 From the table, Topic 1, 2, 4 and 5 will have 20 questions respectively while Topic 3 and 6 will have 10 questions. Since the cognitive level for LO1 is 4, questions are distributed for C2, C3 and C4. C2 and C3 questions are necessary in order to build students cognitive level to reach higher level thinking of C4 as outlined in the LO1. More understanding and application questions are allocated because students can demonstrate their understanding and apply their new knowledge from items that consists of different responses before they can analyse the concepts further. On the other hand, questions for Topic 6 will fulfil the C5 of LO2. Questions are allocated for C3 until C5 only. C1 and C2 are not necessary because LO2 seeks for students ability to evaluate the given information and no remembering is needed.

However, since LO2 requires even higher cognitive level, LO2 will be assessed further using other methods; report writing and forum.
b) Group Project - Report Writing
In order to address LO2, this module will assess students with report writing. As LO2 requires higher order level of thinking, this assessment is chosen to allow students to evaluate and made their judgment independently. The report is also aligned with LO3 which is to measure students application of communication skills in writing. Example of a group project report is to 1) write a report on the importance of a historical religious monument, 2) describe its contribution to the development of civilization in Malaysia and 3) write a personal reflection on what have been learnt throughout the project For this report, students are required to team up to discuss and produce a report on chosen topic. Everyone is required to write a personal reflection to demonstrate understanding and gives examples related to the lesson. c) Forum This assessment addresses LO2 and LO3 in conversation through a forum. Forum is chosen because it allows students to deliver and defend their thoughts and opinions with other students in engaging ways. Students need to be analytical in this assessment because they are required to come up with valid ideas, not just to come up with groundless ideas as the learning outcome is up to C5. This is an assessment for learning for students to develop higher level of thinking skill.
