Zimbra Collaboration Appliance (ZCA) is an email and collaboration

solution delivered as a virtual appliance for faster provisioning and
easier administration than traditional solutions. ZCA enables
organizations to deploy and manage a private email and
collaboration clouds with fewer resources, lower costs and less risk.
ZCA is designed to run on the VMware vSphere platform to
reduce the cost and complexity of infrastructure management.
ZCA leverages the best-of-breed virtualization capabilities of the
vSphere platform to enable dynamic provisioning and scalability,
high availability, backup, and disaster recovery. ZCA provides users
with a collaboration cloud in private cloud infrastructures or on
hosted solutions delivered by VMware vCloud service providers.

Zimbra Collaboration Server
Complete enterprise-class email and collaboration solution that
includes email, contacts/address book, calendaring, document
management, file sharing and tasks.
Advanced Zimbra Web Client
Zimbra Advanced Web Client is a multi-browser, multiplatform Web client with a rich AJAX interface for a robust
desktop application experience.
Indexing and search
The comprehensive indexing and search engine indexes all
email content and meta-data and over two hundred different
types of attachments to enable fast and accurate search
results in seconds.
Zimbra Mobile
Zimbra Mobile supports native, over-the-air synchronization to
iPhones, as well as Windows, Palm and Symbian OS smart phones.
Mobile security policies can be set including remote device wipe,
PINs and device management features on user accounts.
Zimbra-Microsoft Exchange interoperability
Zimbra-Microsoft Exchange Interoperability enables enterprise
calendars to share free-busy times between Zimbra and
Microsoft Exchange and provides a shared Global Address List
(GAL) for Address Book.
Simplified administration
The ZCA has a simplified, task-oriented AJAX Web
administration console that enables administrators to quickly
accomplish daily tasks from anywhere without complex
workflows or a steep learning curve.

Automated software updates

The ZCA combines software and security updates into a single
lifecycle management policy, configurable from the anywhere
access, Web-based administration console.
Migration wizard
The ZCA Migration Wizard enables customers to rapidly and
easily migrate from Microsoft Exchange and Domino
environments to the ZCA.
Open Virtualization Format packaged virtual appliance
The ZCA is delivered as a virtual appliance with an integrated
operating system and application stack in the Open
Virtualization Format, reducing the cost and complexity of
provisioning and lifecycle management.

High Availability, Backup, and Disaster Recovery
The ZCA is built on the VMware vSphere platform to provide
integrated high-availability, backup and disaster recovery. A
vSphere cluster with VMware High Availability (HA), VMware
Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and VMware vMotion
improves service levels by reducing the impact of planned and
unplanned hardware downtime.

Integrated application stack

The ZCA features an integrated operating system and
application stack, combined with security technologies
including firewall and anti-virus and anti-spam filtering.
