2B.D2 Justify final decisions, explaining how the technology system will fulfil the stated
purpose and client requirements, describing the impact of any constraints on the plan.

D2 - Justification of Final Decisions

Justify Chosen hardware and Software
We were given a stock computer meant to be upgraded, it had basic windows
vista home specs (DDR2 based ram), this machines RAM was upgraded with a
Kingston 800 MHz 2 Gb Module ValueRam this was useful because it is
energy efficient so the PSU would not have to be upgraded to sustain it or
anything.
The Optical Drive was replaced with the Sony CRX310EE is a stock type optical
drive capable of reading a wide range of optical drive formats and it can do this
at a speed of 120ms (0.12 seconds) this means that it is able to transfer data
every 0.12 seconds making sure a transfer doesnt time out as easily.
The updated operating system that we are going to use is Windows 7
professional, this is because it has the friendliest user interface, and because it
allows most system customization. We will also be downloading the softwares
that the client requires which is inscape and open office (free software) that will
be downloaded online.

How does it meet the client requirements?

It meets client requirements as it is able to carry out what the client has
requested, such as being able to view data on CDs by changing the optical
drive, and increase the booting speed, which we did by changing the RAM
He wanted a new operating system installed as he was unable to access his old
one as he was locked out of the system.
The hard drive space exceeds the required storage capacity, by having 500gb
instead of just 160gb.

How does it meet the clients purpose?

The client asked for a newer operating system which we provided (Windows 7
Professional)
He also asked for us to install new RAM and a new optical drive, a scanner,
printer and Office software. We completed all of these tasks.

Are there any constraints, what are they and why?

If too many software are installed and run at the same time the ram and CPU
become critical, meaning that if there is not enough ram or if no strong CPU is
present then the system will run slowly.

Time is a constraint as they cant afford stop work or allow me to take the
computer home and do the installation there. The business has to keep operating
so I have to keep working throughout the working day.
Specification of the new equipment limits the new softwares hardware
requirements. for example, if the equipment acquired is not new then it wouldnt
matter what software you have, the maximum capability will be restricted to the
all the hardware can handle. It should be maintained regularly to promote high
work productivity
