The addition of glass

fiber does not increase
the compressive
strength significantly
as fibers does not take
compressive loads but
vice versa in flexural
strength. The
experiment also shows
that the higher fiber
ratio the lower slump
value (workability)
The use of glass fiber
not only improves the
properties of concrete
yet it can do small cost
cutting, aslo provides
an easy outlet of the
efficient disposal of this
environmental hazard

(Kumari,2013) The
higher the fiber content
the higher the tensile
strength. (Rao,2012)
the durability of
concrete was increased
by adding alkali
resistance glass fibers
in concrete and also
reduce bleeding of
concrete.
GFRC showed 25% of
strength increase
compared to ordinary
concrete. The durability
of concrete was
improved by adding
alkali resistance glass.

flexural strength have

been carried out to
gain difference
between GFRC and
ordinary concrete
The flexural strength
does not increase
significantly. Glass fiber
helps concrete to
increase compressive
strength until indicated
limit. This happen
because it leaves more
porosity and allow air
and water to slip
through.

Additional compacting
factor test had been
done to determine the
workability of the
concrete.
The results show only
small increase in the
strength aspect of
concrete. But the
compacting factor
decrease with
additional glass fiber in
concrete.

The purpose of adding

glass fiber is not to
improve the strength of
concrete but it does
have other useful
properties such as light
weight, durability, and
also can be fabricated
easily.

The workability of
concrete decrease with
the addition of glass
fibers.

tensile stress test.

Results show concrete

with glass fiber added
have higher
compressive strength,
tensile strength and
flexural strength
compare to ordinary
concrete.

The compacting factor

of all grade of GFRC are
maintained at 0.930.97.
The addition of glass
fiber in concrete gives
a reduction in bleeding
which improves its
homogeneity and
reduce possible cracks
occurring where there
is some restrain to
settlement.
Inclusion of glass fiber in concrete mix improve the physical characteristic of concrete such as compressive, tensile, durability
and pave a way for easy disposal of glass because it is an industrial waste.

Key word

Besides strengthening
the concrete, the use of
glass fiber in concrete
pave a way for easy
disposal of industrial
waste such as glass.
The replacement of
glass fiber with fine
aggregate increase the
strength with reduced
weight and also fire
resistance.

The initial overall cost

is greatly reduced
because of the good
properties of fiber
reinforced concrete.

Curved end of fiber

provides higher bonding
strength and improve
the tensile strength
greatly.

Can be overcome by
using plasticizers or
superplasticizers.
