2.1 DBS3800 Product Family

This describes the DBS3800 in terms of its function modules and auxiliary facilities.

Function Modules of the DBS3800

The BBU3806, BBU3806C, and RRU3801C are referred to as the function modules of the
DBS3800.

Connector Type

BBU3806

Indoor baseband unit that processes baseband signals

BBU3806C

Outdoor baseband unit that processes baseband signals

RRU3801C

Outdoor remote radio unit. It receives and transmits RF signals and then
transmits the processed signals to the BBU3806 or BBU3806C.

The BBU3806, BBU3806C, and RRU3801C can be combined into a BTS3803 or BTS3803C.

2-2

BTS3803: consists of one BBU3806, one RRU3801C, and the power system, which
processes RF and baseband signals and applies to indoor environment.

BTS3803C: consists of one BBU3806C and one to three RRU3801Cs, which processes RF
and baseband signals and applies to outdoor environment.

Auxiliary
Facility

Connector Type

DPD32-1-6

An indoor facility for DC power distribution, which provides the

following functions:
l

One DC power input at a maximum current of 32 A

Six DC power outputs

For details of the DPD32-1-6 functions, refer to the DPD32-1-6 User

Guide.
An environment monitoring unit providing the following functions:

EMUA

Environment monitoring

Intrusion monitoring

Power distribution monitoring

For details of the EMUA functions, refer to the EMUA User Guide.
Surge Protection
Box for Coaxial
(SPBC)

A small box for indoor application, which provides surge protection for
the coaxial cables of the BBU3806.

Surge Protection
Box for TwistedPair (SPBT)

The surge protection unit in the SPBT is optional.

For details of the SPBC functions, refer to SPBC.

The SPBT without the surge protection unit works as a Digital

Distribution Frame (DDF).

The SPBT with the surge protection unit provides surge protection for
twisted pair cables.

For details of the SPBT functions, refer to SPBT.

Signal Lightning
Protection Unit
(SLPU)

The SLPU protects the E1/T1 signals and Ethernet signals over the
BBU3806 from lightning surge.

DDF

The DDF is used for the E1/T1 cable connections between the BBU3806
and the transmission device. According to installation positions, the DDF
falls into two types, namely external DDF and built-in DDF.

For details of the SLPU functions, refer to SLPU.

For details of the built-in DDF functions, refer to Built-in DDF.
