INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVE (Lesson Objective)

After seeing the PowerPoint, the students will ask and answer questions about Autumn/ Fall
and also illustrate a picture relating to autumn/ fall with 95% accuracy.

ELA & Literacy Standard (CCS): Speaking& Listening (SL.2.3)
Ask and answer questions about what a speaker says in order to clarify comprehension,
gather additional information, or deepen understanding of a topic or issue.
Indicator:
This will be evident when the students ask and answer questions about Autumn/Fall
PowerPoint that was presented by the teacher.
ELA& Literacy Standard (CCS): Speaking and Listening (SL.2.5)
Create audio recordings of stories or poems; add drawings or other visual displays to stories
or recounts of experiences when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

Indicator:
This will be evident when the students draw a picture based upon the informational text and
images contained in the Autumn/Fall PowerPoint presentation.
MOTIVATION (Engaging the Learners)
The teacher will demonstrate a Thing Link to the class using pictures, videos, games, poems
and a YouTube video relating to Autumn/Fall.

STRATEGIES (Learning Strategies)

Do Now: Students will complete a worksheet about Autumn/Fall to activate their prior
knowledge.
Independent Work: Students will draw a picture based upon the informational text and
images contained in the Autumn/Fall PowerPoint presentation.

Direct Instruction: The teacher will share a PowerPoint about Autumn/Fall.

Collaborative Activity: Students will read aloud a slide from the PowerPoint.
ADAPTATIONS (Exceptionality)
The student who is an English Language Learner will be provided with a translation of t the
PowerPoint.
The student who is visually impaired will be given an audio version of the PowerPoint.
DIFFERIENTATION OF INSTRUCTION
Level One: Students will write a paragraph summarizing the PowerPoint presentation using 2
specific details from the PowerPoint with 95% accuracy.
Level Two: Students will write a paragraph summarizing the PowerPoint using 3 specific
details from the PowerPoint with 95% accuracy.
Level Three: Students will write a paragraph summarizing the PowerPoint using 4 specific
details from the PowerPoint with 95% accuracy.
DEVELOPMENTAL PROCEDURES

Students will complete a Do Now worksheet relating to Autumn/Fall.

Students will read aloud specific slides from the PowerPoint.
Students will ask and answer questions regarding the Autumn/Fall PowerPoint.
After Viewing the PowerPoint presentation, students will draw a picture based upon the
informational text and images contained in the Autumn/Fall PowerPoint presentation
(What is being described in the scene?) The visually impaired student(s) will describe an
imaginary scene to the class based on the informational text that was presented in the
PowerPoint.

Students will share their drawing with the rest of the class.
ASSESSMENT (artifacts and assessment [formal & informal])

Students will draw a fall scene with 95% accuracy.

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Students will go home and bring in an object to school that correlates with Autumn (different
colored leaves, apples, pumpkins, etc.).
FOLLOW-UP:DIRECT TEACHER INTERVENTATION AND ACADEMIC
ENRICHMENT
Direct Teacher Intervention: Students who do not demonstrate an understanding of the
PowerPoint will have to attend extra help the following day to go over the topic in greater
detail.
Academic Enrichment: The students will complete a Quizlet for extra credit about
Autumn/Fall. This will illustrate their mastery of the characteristics of Autumn/Fall.
