Unit 65 Digital Web Animation Assignment 3 Checklist

Explain how you used the following:

Range
Workspace: stage, timeline,
menu bar, toolbar, library,
colour palettes, properties,
preferences, help.

How Used
In director I use the stage to place the assets and
move them into position. The stage is a preview
for the final product. I use the timeline to change
what time the asset comes on and off and how
long each asset will be. I use the menu bar to
change the grids and save it and export etc. I use
the toolbar to select which tools I want to use, I
also use it to add text and add shapes etc. I use
the colour palettes to select which colour I want
something to be. For example, I can use it to
change the colour of the background to the colour
that I want. I use the properties to more
accurately adjust the assets in my director project.
For example, I can easily set the exact scale of an
image/text etc. I use the preferences tab to
change the UI in director to better suit me. I use
the help option to find out how to use director
and how to fully utilise the tools in director.

Screenshot evidence

Basic tools: drawing, eg pencil,

line, pen, brush, shapes; free
transform, eg rotate, skew,
distort, scale, envelope, ruler
and guidelines; editing, eg
lasso, eraser, undo, copy, paste,
duplicate, insert, delete,
aligning, grouping, ungrouping

I could use the tools in director to draw a box or a

line and I could also use these tools to add text. I
didnt really use these tools in my project since I
created all the assets I would need beforehand
and I only needed to make sure that the project
was set to classic.

Objects: symbols, eg instances,

duplicating symbols, swapping
symbols, editing, grouping

I can use some of the tools at the side to create

buttons and shapes and add them to the stage if
my product. I didnt really use any of these objects
in my

Colour tools: eg colour

properties, eyedropper,
creating custom colours, colour
swatches, stroke and fill

I could use the colour palettes to change the

colour of the background of my project, text or
even some images.

Text tools: text, eg editing,

moving, rotating, reshaping,
scrolling, creating text blocks,
converting text to shapes

I could use the text tool to add tect to my project.

I can change the colour, size and font and also
change the type of text. Eg. Scrolling text box.

Manipulating objects:
manipulating vector shapes;
single layer vector shape
interaction;
transforming and grouping
vector shapes

I manipulated the image of Brendon Urie to run

across the bottom of the project. I did this
through the use of keyframes.

Animation: frame label; frame

rate; timeline (playhead, layers,
frames, frame rate,
keyframes, onion skinning,
markers); frame manipulation,
eg copying, deleting, reversal;
testing movies; frame by frame
animation; tweening (shape,
motion)

Frames are the timescale in director. Frames are

what directs new assets to come into the scene.

Assets: importing, eg raster

images, vector images, sound
files, video files, movie clips;
resizing; bitmap to vector
conversion; asset libraries

Assets are the files added to a media project they

are the text, graphics, video and sound. They are
the makings of the project.

Advanced tools: scenes; guide

layers; masking, eg mask layers,
animated masks; timeline
effects, eg blur, drop shadow,
expand, explode, transform,
transition; nesting movie clips

I can add transitions to my project. I decided to

add a lot of different effects to my project, but not
so many that my product became overwhelming. I
used controls and different functions to add
interactivity to my project.

Interactivity: scripting;
behaviours; actions; triggers;
buttons; rollovers; playback
control;
preloaders

I can add interactivity to my project by using

buttons and scripting so that the user has a direct
effect on the actual project.
