DESCRIPTION
This document describes the calculation of the compressive stress on axial sticks. This
stress is caused by the radial forces which press the conductors towards the sticks.

2.1.1 Calculation model
The axial bending stress is calculated using the reaction force at the supports, X , which is
given by [2]. The stress is determined by both the width of the axial stick and the axial size of
the conductor that makes contact to the stick.
The highest stress that occurs, is determined by the smallest of the different stick widths as
shown in Fig. 1. The width that should be considered for each stick, is the width at the side
that touches the winding conductor. It is assumed that this stress between stick and winding
is decisive.
