1. SCOPE
This document covers the piping design requirements for condensate lines in the MAC, MAG
and MAN system.

1.1 Responsibilities of the Pipe Designer:

The pipe designer shall be responsible for the design, analysis and specification of the
interconnecting piping systems in accordance with:
ASME B31.1 when designing according to ASME
VGB R503 M and VGB R510 L when designing according to DIN EN / ISO
STIM-03.001
STIM-03.002

2. GENERAL
2.1 National Standards
Specific standards issued by the following organizations shall apply where referenced
in this specification. It shall be the designers responsibility to obtain copies of all
referenced documents and drawings. Unless specific exception is taken and approved
by Siemens Energy, the referenced documents shall be considered binding.
ANSI
ASME
ASTM

American National Standards Institute

American Society of Mechanical Engineers
American Society of Testing Materials

or where required

3. PIPING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Piping and pipe supports shall be designed and implemented with due allowance
for thermal expansion and movement of terminals.

Upstream and downstream straight sections of adequate length in accordance with

STIM-03.002 shall be provided before and after regulating valves.

An upstream straight section with a length of 20xDi (inside diameter) and a

downstream straight section with a length of 10xDi (inside diameter) must be
implemented for orifice MAN5XCF001.

Compensation loops shall located in piping runs as required to accommodate

thermal expansion and movement of terminals.

The use of bends and elbows to change piping direction shall be minimized.

4. REQUIREMENTS ON PIPING SUPPORTS

The use of free swinging piping hangers should be avoided or, at the very least,
kept to an absolute minimum. If possible the pipes should be supported.

The piping run must be safeguarded against possible vibration excitation from
switching and flow processes or pump pressure fluctuations with the aid of guides
or dampers.

In the event of seismic design requirements, the support concept must then allow
for the additional forces, moments and vibration.

5. PARTICULAR PIPING AND SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MAN SYSTEM

A fixed point must be provided ahead of and behind water injection valve
MAN5XAA151, see Sketch 1. In cases where pipe movement does not allow this
type of fixed point, a spring and damper combination shall be used for the entire
support configuration, see Sketch 2.

The distance between the branch to overflow line / orifice MAN53BP031 and orifice
MAN52BP001 must be less than 1 m.
To accommodate water hammer caused by flashing, the pipe length between valve
MAN63AA051 and orifice MAN62BP001 must be kept below 5 m.
Piping of the water injection must be routed such as to ensure automatic venting.

Connections to the orifice for the bypass steam inlet must be free from stress and
vibration, see Sketch 4.
Appropriate pipe supports (springs, dampers) shall be implemented at this location.
Rigid supports upstream of the nozzle shall be designed such as to rule out
overloading of the nozzle as a result of vertical displacement of the bypass valves
during assembly or operation of the bypass system.

6. REQUIREMENTS ON THE PIPING DESIGN AND ARRANGEMENT OF THE COMPONENTS

OF THE MAC SYSTEM

6.1.

LP EXHAUST HOOD SPRAY

The mesh size of the strainer MAC01AT001 shall not exceed 1,5 mm.
The condensate supply line for the LP exhaust hood spray must be arranged below the outer
casing upper part of the LP turbine. In the supply line to the spray nozzles in the casing upper part
a splitting flange must be arranged. The splitting flange must be arranged 80 mm below the
casing joint, see sketch.

6.2.

LP EXHAUST HOOD SPRAY FLUSHING

The pipeline to the spray nozzle of LP exhaust hood spray has to be flushed. It is recommended to
flush the pipeline, before the last Seam of pipeline to the nozzle is welded on.
