THE WORLDS MOST UNIQUE MUSIC FESTIVAL IS BACK!

Secret Solstice festival is back for the third time between the 16th and 19th of June 2016, smack bang in the middle of
Reykjavk, the worlds most northerly capital city. Weve been called the most unique music festival on Earth by several
news sources, partly due to the fact were held at a time when the sun never sets for the entire 96hrs of our event
weekend.
This year, we have an absolutely stellar lineup including RADIOHEAD, DEFTONES, OF MONSTERS AND MEN, DIE
ANTWOORD, JAMIE JONES, SKREAM, ST. GERMAIN, ROISIN MURPHY, ACTION BRONSON, APOLLONIA, ART
DEPARTMENT, M.O.P., GENERAL LEVY, and many more from Iceland and around the world.
We hope youll be joining us between the 16th and 19th of June 2016 in Reykjavk, for Icelands ULTIMATE summer festival
experience in the midnight sun.

A CARBON NEUTRAL EVENT

Secret Solstice is proud to be certified a CarbonNeutral event in 2016. This has been achieved through a verified carbon
offset plan, as well as all on-site energy needs for production and sound being provided by 100% renewable geothermal
power. On top of this, weve partnered with forward-thinking brands like Toyota Iceland who have provided us with hybrid
vehicles, and Icelandic Glacial Water, who assist us with a comprehensive recycling plan on the festival site. We also have
the only Eco Certified campsite in Iceland. Finally, you may spot the WOW air branded wind turbine created by Icewind
near our front gate accreditation. This incredible piece of engineering literally develops electricity from thin air, further
helping to lower our impact on the environment!
RECYCLING ON SITE
We have a dedicated recycling team on the Secret Solstice 2016 site this year, as well as recyclable cardboard bins
provided by Icelandic Glacial Water. We ask that you help us leave the smallest impact on the environment possible, by
recycling as much as you can during our 2016 event.
THE SECRET SOLSTICE TOYOTA AURIS
On display next to the front gate at Secret Solstice 2016, youll find our custom Auris hybrid provided by Toyota Iceland.
Through the use of hybrid vehicles on our festival site, were able to lower our carbon footprint more than if we solely
used non-hybrid petrol or diesel vehicles.

RADIOHEAD GLOBAL LISTENING PARTY
Our headline act Radioheads latest album A Moon Shaped Pool lands on Spotify on Friday the 17th of June, which is the
day the act will play Secret Solstice 2016. The band have announced a global listening party, including a day-long
worldwide stream of the new album on this day. This will be truly a special day for Radiohead fans worldwide, though
especially for those of you at Secret Solstice 2016 as youll be seeing them live in Reykjavk.

TICKETING & ENTRY

GENERAL INFO
Tickets for Secret Solstice 2016 start at 24,900kr (approx 141/$201/179) for a full 4-day event pass. If you dont already
have one, you can get one via our ticketing partner Tix.is, or at the front festival gate if not already sold out. Alternatively,
you can go VIP at Secret Solstice 2016 for 34,900kr (approx 198/$282/251). There are no single day passes available at
our 2016 event, only passes for the entire 4 days.
WRISTBAND EXCHANGE
You will need an official 2016 wristband to access the Secret Solstice festival site, which you will receive when your festival
ticket is scanned in at our wristband exchange near the front gate. In order to beat the queues, we recommend you
exchange your ticket for a wristband before the festival starts. We will be opening wristband exchange on Tuesday the 14th
of June, and Wednesday the 15th of June 2016, the two days prior to the festival gates opening, between 11AM and 7PM
both days, at the accreditation booths next to the festivals front gate. Alternatively, you can receive your wristband during
any of the festivals standard opening hours.
PURCHASING TICKETS
As long as festival passes are still available before the event, you can purchase via our ticketing agent Tix. Simply head to
www.tix.is, purchase a pass, and then print out to bring to the festival site in order to exchange for a wristband. Limited
tickets may also be available at the festival gate during the event, however we cant guarantee availability if we sell out.

VIP BENEFITS
VIP ticket holders can access all VIP bars on the festival site, receive a physical program on entry to the event, priority
service areas at all bars, exclusive discounts at Reykjavk bars and restaurants, and receive guaranteed entry into the Hel
after-hours arena.
INN BENEFITS
Limited to only 50 tickets, the inn (Odin) pass is the ultimate way to experience our 2016 event. With entry to private
artists bars, inn personal assistants, 24 drink tokens per day, food, drink, and so much more, theres no other ticket at
Secret Solstice 2016 like the pass named after the father of the Norse gods.
TICKET UPGRADES
You can upgrade your existing Secret Solstice 2016 pass to a higher-level pass (for example, standard ticket to VIP pass) at
the gate, as long as there are still tickets available. The fee for this would always be the difference between your current
pass, and the pass youre upgrading to. Keep in mind that this is based on availability, we cannot upgrade if the level
youre wanting to upgrade to is sold out.
VIP BARS
There are several VIP bars on the festival site, that only guests with a VIP wristband (or higher, like inn) may enter.
These have been lavishly decked out for comfort, and can be the perfect place to chill out for a while if the main festival
areas are getting too energetic for you.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Guests 18 years of age and older can enter with no restrictions, apart from not being able to drink on site until 20 or over.
Parents or legal guardians with a festival ticket may bring children between the ages of 11-17 on site, providing they also
have a festival pass, and are accompanied at all times. Kids aged 10 and under enter free, providing accompanied at all
times by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Keep in mind we will be searching all bags on entry, and reserve the right
to deny entry to anyone if we think the safety or security of the site or guests could be at risk.

SIDE EVENTS & ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

GENERAL INFO
Secret Solstice isnt just known for our main event, but for our world-first side parties over the solstice weekend. With
the worlds only events inside a glacier and volcano, a midnight sun boat party in the Atlantic, a geothermal pool party in
a 120+ year old lagoon, and more, you can customise your festival weekend however you want it. Though with many of
these already sold out, youd better be quick if you want in.
HORIZON PARTY
The last side event still with tickets available, our Horizon parties are hyper-exclusive ticketed after parties for only 200
guests, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night of our festival weekend. At a super-secret location next to the Atlantic, just
south of Reykjavk, some of the worlds best DJs will play into the night during the midnight sun. Tickets are available for
7,900kr (approx. 44/$63/56) via Tix.is or our website.

SIDE EVENT TRANSPORT & TIMING

All side events (including Secret Solstice presents Into The Glacier, Secret Solstice presents Inside The Volcano, Secret
Lagoon Party, Midnight Sun Boat Party, and Horizon Party) have the same departure location. This is via our partner
Reykjavk Excursions buses, that will depart from outside the Laugardalsvllur National Stadium, about a 100m walk to the
north of our festivals main gate. Please check the official festival map on the back of this program for location.

VKING HOT TUB

Returning after being a smash hit in 2015, Vkings incredible 3.5m high beer glass hot tub will be overlooking our main
stage at Secret Solstice 2016. If the thought of renting out the hot tub for up to five people sounds like something you
want in on, book your place via our website, or at the front gate if places are still available.
HLEMMUR SQUARE HANGOVER BRUNCH
Hlemmur Square is the official hotel and hostel of Secret Solstice 2016. They will be holding a hangover brunch on Friday
the 17th, Saturday the 18th, and Sunday the 19th of June 2016, to help you get over the night before, and get you started
right for the next day of the festival. Starting at 9AM and running until 12NOON to coincide with gates opening, well have
special guest DJs every morning, plus Hlemmur Square restaurants incredible food and hangover cocktail to kickstart your
day. All festival wristband holders will receive a 10% discount on food and drinks at Hlemmur Square hotel between the
16th-19th of June, this includes the hangover brunch events!
HLEMMUR SQUARE LAUNCH PARTY
Our official launch party for Secret Solstice 2016 is happening from 9PM on Wednesday the 15th of June 2016 at Hlemmur
Square hotel. Come and celebrate the launch of Secret Solstice 2016 and party with us at our official hotel partners bar.
And if youve exchanged your festival ticket for a wristband by that time, you will get 10% off food and drinks at the launch
event.
UEFA EURO CUP
We will be broadcasting all UEFA Euro Cup games that are played during the Secret Solstice 2016 festival weekend right
on the festival site, at our Vking Eating Hall and sports bar. However, the Iceland vs Hungary game on Saturday the 18th
of June will be broadcast live from our main stage, meaning this is one weekend you definitely dont need to choose
between being a football or music fan!

REYKA CHILL TENT

Our partner Reyka Vodka will have an incredible chill tent set up next to our main stage Valhalla. With cell phone
charging facilities, as well as cocktails made with Icelands Reyka vodka, youll want to stop by here at some point
over the festival weekend.

TRAVEL, TRANSPORT, TOURS, & MORE

GETTING HERE
Secret Solstice festival is located very close to the center of Reykjavik, as well as most major hotels, hostels, and
other accommodation. A taxi from downtown to the festival site will only cost you around 1200kr, or you can walk
there in about 15-20 minutes, depending on where youre staying.
PARKING
There is no parking directly on the festival site available to guests. The closest available parking for guests can be
found across the road from the Laugardalsvllur National Stadium, that is only a few minutes walk from the festival
site.
CAMPSITE
Our campsite is located 250m north of the festival site, a short walk past the Laugardalsvllur National Stadium and
World Class gym. Each person on the camp site will need to have a camping wristband, which you will need to get
at the same place you acquire your festival wristband, if you have purchased a camping pass. Please note that it is
strictly one camping pass per person, not per tent. Nobody except those with a camping pass will be allowed on
the campsite, over all hours of the event. Campers must bring their own equipment, excepting in the instance you
have purchased a pre-pitched tent via our partner Rent-A-Tent. We ask all campers to remember that the campsite
borders on a residential area, and that during late hours we request noise is kept to a minimum.
EUROPCAR CAR RENTALS
Our car rental partner Europcar has provided our festival guests with exclusive discounts on rental vehicles, which
you can redeem via the bit.ly/ss16-europcar link. If youre heading out in Icelands stunning nature, we recommend
booking your own car with Europcar to make the most of your time in Iceland.

If youre camping and dont want to bring your own camping gear, our partner Rent-A-Tent is your best bet to save
some hassle at Secret Solstice 2016. With low prices and no effort on your part, book via rentatent.is or via the

HLEMMUR SQUARE HOTEL & PYLSA RESTAURANT
Hlemmur Square Hotel and Hostel is the official hotel partner of Secret Solstice 2016, and is the chosen place we
book for our guests from major international media outlets when they travel to Secret Solstice 2016. Hlemmur
Square has an incredible bar and restaurant that we recommend you check out during your time in Iceland, which
is only a 10 minute walk from our main gates. Show your wristband at the bar and restaurant during the festival
weekend to receive 10% off food and drinks.

Our travel partner Reykjavk Excursions is the go-to transport company in Iceland for airport transfers, tours, and holiday
travel. We recommend booking your airport transfers between the airport and Reykjavk well in advance, as well as any

Our clothing partner 66North has been keeping Iceland warm for decades, and now youre able to take home some

If you are a VIP, or inn ticketholder at Secret Solstice 2016, you will receive select discounts at bars, stores, and

Pullan will be bringing their legendary Icelandic pylsa (hot dogs) to our festival site at Secret Solstice 2016. If youre coming
to the festival from abroad, chances are youve heard about Icelands world-famous hot dogs, and are probably salivating
at the thought of trying one. Pullan serves original hot dogs made locally since 1908, and is the definitive place to try your
first ever authentic Icelandic pylsa!

SECURITY
Security will be visible almost at all time on the Secret Solstice site (theyre not gonna watch you take a pee, obviously),
so feel free to approach them is you need help, see a situation that needs attending to, or you spot something out of the
ordinary. You will also find the security tent close to the entrance of the site.
MEDICAL
If youre injured, feel sick, need first aid, or have spotted someone who needs medical assistance, note that the first aid
tent is near the main entrance with security. In case of an emergency, please approach any member of the Secret Solstice
staff on site, or our security team for assistance.
SAFETY ON SITE
Secret Solstice has always, and will always be run with the aim of providing a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
Because of this, we will be monitoring our site closely for any negative activity
PHOTO/VIDEO/AUDIO
No professional recording equipment (DSLR or similar professional mirrorless cameras) are allowed onto the festival site,
unless you are part of the media and have a photo pass on your camera. Small non-professional cameras, smartphones,
and other similar devices are acceptable to bring onto the site as a ticketed guest, and we encourage you to share your
images of the event online. Any professional audio or video recording of artist performances is strictly prohibited, unless
prior written permission is granted by the artist, management, or the festival.
