Lower-Body Strength Circuit

Overview & Purpose

Students will learn the correct


way to perform a number of
lower-body exercises
Students will become familiar
with developing their own
exercise circuits based on
their classroom experience
Students will gain confidence
in the weight room setting
Students will be introduced to
teaching exercise technique

Do-Now Warm-Up (Any 3 exercises done in circuit fashion ex. 5 Push-Ups, 10


Bodyweight Squats, 1 lap around gym done 5 times)

Discuss the benefits of weight training on physical health and mental health
Discuss how weight training correlates to and benefits athletic performance and daily
activities
Divide students into groups of 3-5 and assign them to an exercise station (more
stations can be added for larger classes)
Each station will have an info card that contains the exercise, important cues, and
pictures. Each group is responsible for mastering one exercise (Teacher is giving
instruction and feedback throughout entire process). After they have mastered their
specific exercise, the groups will come together as a class and discuss/demo their
exercise to the class:

After each exercise/station is presented, groups will then go through and learn each
station. While students perform exercises, others in their group should be critiquing
technique and offering feedback with the use of cues
Once all groups have gone through each station, the students can now go through the
stations in circuit fashion (1 Minute Work, 30 Seconds Rest/Transition)
