Social Barriers
Directions: Pretend the Supreme Court is about to make a decision in the
case, Plessy v Ferguson. Write an Amicus Curiae brief from the
perspective of someone who sympathizes with the cause of civil rights.
Address the brief to the Supreme Court. This type of brief is written by
someone who is not a party to the litigation, but who believes that the
courts decision may affect its interest. You may write on the back of each
sheet if necessary.
