2s Tittle Tattler

Term 2 Week 5
Dear Parents,
A Big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all our beautiful mums. Thank you so much
for joining us on Friday for our Kids Caf! It was just beautiful seeing you all
having a lovely time with your children. For those that couldnt make it, we had
some very helpful bar tenders pouring drinks and waitresses and waiters
helping out where they could. You all should be very proud of your children.
Enjoy a relatively normal week!
Year 2 Teachers.

GENERAL MESSAGES
a)

Exploring the Redlands EXCURSION:- Your children would have brought

home an excursion pack on Friday with information about our trip to
locations in the Redlands taking place next Tuesday (17 th May). We
require all permission/medical forms returned by Friday this week. If you
would like to assist and join us for our excursion, could you also return the
helper form, ensuring your have included your volunteer number.

b)

NO Assembly this week (BUDDY AFTERNOON)

This week we will be meeting with our Year 5 Buddy classes for a fun
afternoon. Student of the Week will recommence in Week 6: This is also
2Gs Assembly on Pentecost. Please join us if you can.

c)

Friday Prayer morning:- Prayer will recommence in Week 6 (20th May).

d)

Covering Books- Our school has been lucky enough to have received an
abundance of new Home Reader books as many of ours have seen better
days. Before the children can bring them home to enjoy, we need the
books contacted/covered. If you could assist in any way, please see the
library or let us know.

e)

Reading: In the coming weeks, we will be reassessing your childs

reading. Some children have indicated that their home readers are too
easy. As we have said before, our emphasis is on comprehension but it is
great to hear that reading is becoming easy! Not everything should be
hard all the time!

f)

Maths: We have continued to see progress being made across a range of

areas in Mathematics and the children are beginning to make connections
about their learning and real world applications. Where possible, we ask
that you casually include maths talk when you can at home. This could
include asking your child to count the coins in your wallet, read the time,
ask them to describe the chance of an event, basic addition/subtraction
problems or even find shapes on a car trip. Every little bit will help their
confidence and develop mathematical fluency. We thank you in advanced!

g)

Show and Share- Our mini talks continue this week. I have been blown
away by the confidence your children have shown already. Please
remember not to totally script your child, as it is not a reading test. They
tend to speak better when they simply talk!

h)

Magazines and Newspapers: If you have any old or unwanted

magazines and newspapers, I will happily take them off you!

i)

2G welcomes Miss Stainer to our class for the next 5 Weeks. She will be
taking the class for a range of lessons throughout her time with us and we
are so lucky to have her for her final prac. Feel free to pop in and say
hello!
