ASSESSMENT, PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION
Jovi's planning is very good. She has demonstrated the ability to create meaningful lessons that challenged and
encouraged the students. She successfully prepares unit plans that include expectations, various teaching
methodologies and a variety of assessments. She understands the skills that are being taught and is able to
accommodate her lessons to reach a wide variety of individuals. Jovi provides opportunities for questioning and
inquiry. Jovi demonstrated a sound understanding of the Ontario curriculum and the diverse learning styles of
students in the class by planning lessons that were engaging, eective, and purposeful. During her lessons, Jovi
has stressed significant ideas, ensuring each student understood the concepts before moving to the next level
in the lesson.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Jovi has established a good rapport with the students in the classroom, creating an immediate connection and
a sense of respect. From the beginning of her placement, she learned the rules and routines of the class and
adopted it as her own. Jovi's caring and calm manner, along with her patience and respectful nature, helped her
to create a positive learning environment and a good rapport with students. She consistently set out
expectations for student behaviour that were clear, positive and empowering. Jovi has implemented various
classroom management strategies that adapt to the learning expectations (e.g., if you can hear me clap once, if
you can her me clap twice).

UNDERSTANDING CURRICULUM AND THE LEARNER

Throughout this practicum, Jovi has clearly shown that she was willing to read curriculum resource
materials and to obtain extensive information prior to introducing new lessons. Jovis teaching reflects a sound
knowledge of the curricular material. She encourages feedback, risk taking and questioning on the part of the
students by providing a comfortable learning environment for them. She has learned the various strategies and
concepts regarding planning and unfolding a 3-part math lesson, using various resources (e.g., Marian Small).
She has a sound understanding how this works, enabling the students to collaboratively execute a task.

DIVERSITY AND EQUITY

Jovi has created an atmosphere of mutual respect and caring in the classroom by treating all students with
respect and care. Her warm personality, friendly disposition and genuine interest in the children has enabled her
to develop rapport with all students. Jovi increasingly made
accommodations to her plans, lesson delivery and assessment to ensure that all learners could be
successful in the classroom. She has planned lessons according to the needs of our classroom (e.g., planning
for students who are on an Individual Education Plan). She looks at each student as a whole and goes above
and beyond to ensure the success of all.

PROFESSIONALISM
Jovi demonstrated a high level of professionalism and dedication to the teaching profession. She worked
collaboratively with parent volunteers, with our teaching assistant, and with myself. She had the opportunity to
interact with parent volunteers on two field trips (e.g., Ontario Science Centre and Peel Safety Academy). She
consistently communicated openly and respectfully with all parents, volunteers, and sta. Coordinating her time
and ideas with mine, she was always open, flexible, adaptable and respectful.

INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL / COMMUNITY LIFE

In the short time that Jovi was with us, she made herself available to the many dierent initiatives we have at
the school. Firstly, she dedicated her time in the mornings to help with the breakfast club, once a week. She
also willingly participated in our monthly sta meetings. Jovi interacted with many sta members, and engaged
in the school community. As a school community, we celebrated Black History Month. Our Language program
supported this initiative, planning various activities to incorporate this important month.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Jovi has been a wonderful addition to our classroom. She brings with her a great deal of energy,
excitement and creativity. The students have embraced her teaching practices and eagerly participate
during her lessons. Jovi is confident and vibrant during her teaching and would be an asset to any school team!
It was my pleasure hosting Jovi in our classroom this term. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
