CBJ*is*the*flagship*Orthodox*shul*in*the*Southeast.*Our*history*and*mission*provide*a*

CBJs*assistant*rabbi*position*is*a*rewarding*fullPtime*position*where*a*candidate*
can*grow*professionally*in*the*rabbinate.***The*assistant*rabbi*partners*with*the*Senior*
Rabbi*serving*the*diverse*segments*of*CBJ*membership,*including*adult*education,*
counseling,*drashos,*shiurim,*answering*halachic*queries,*and*pastoral*services.***

The*ideal*candidate*will*be*wellProunded,*passionate,*warm,*approachable,*and*
energetic,*with*strong*interpersonal*skills.**He*will*have*experience*encouraging*individual*
and*communal*growth*and*will*have*the*skill*to*develop*rapport*with*members*of*all*ages,*
including*children*and*teenagers.**The*assistant*rabbi*and*his*rebbetzin*will*serve*as*role*
models*in*torah*living*and*yiras*shamayim.**He*will*demonstrate*a*love*for*Am*Yisroel*and*
Eretz*Yisroel.**He*will*also*demonstrate*an*ability*to*successfully*interact*with*Jewish*
community*leaders,*supporting*the*senior*rabbi*in*continuing*our*sense*of*unity*within*our*
shul*and*neighborhood.**Because*the*volume*of*halachic*inquiry*has*grown*with*the*shul,*
the*ideal*candidate*will*already*have*a*very*comfortable*familiarity*with*areas*of*halacha*
that*a*shul*rabbi*is*expected*to*be*fluent*in.*

Our*shul*is*at*a*turning*point*in*its*history,*where*a*new*generation*of*fully*
observant*young*families*are*taking*more*of*an*active*role*in*a*platform*of*synagogue*life*
that*was*originally*designed*for*a*community*with*an*outreach*focus.**As*such,*the*ideal*
candidate*will*have*experience*in*developing*crossPgenerational*programming*that*can*
help*with*relationshipPbuilding*between*the*various*constituencies*in*our*membership.**He*
will*also*be*adept*at*connecting*with*individuals*at*various*stages*and*multiple*levels*of*
religious*knowledge*and*running*events*appropriate*to*these*varied*groups*

ROLES$AND$RESPONSIBILITIES:$

Rabbinic$Responsibilities$
! Halachah:**Respond*and*provide*guidance*regarding*regular*halachic*inquiries*from*
members$
! Weekday*Minyanim:*$
o! Supervise*weekday*shacharis,*mincha,*and*maariv*minyanim$
o! Responsible*for*daily*shiur*after*shacharis*and*between*mincha/maariv$
! Shabbos*Minyanim:$
o! Serve*as*the*lead*rabbi*for*a*weekly*shabbos*morning*minyan*$
o! Deliver*weekly*drasha$
o! Deliver*drashos*in*place*of*senior*rabbi*when*necessary$
! Teaching:$
o! Teach*weekly*textPbased*Torah*classes$
o! Teach*conceptual*classes$
o! Initiate*teaching*initiatives*for*wide*range*of*member*observance*levels$
o! Deliver*regular*divrei*torah,*in*coordination*with*senior*rabbi$

Greater$Community$Responsibilities$

several*day*schools,*a*yeshiva*high*school*for*boys,*a*girls*high*school,*and*a*Modern*
