Key Idea 3: Christians pray, worship and celebrate the
sacraments.
Outcome 3.3: Students investigate and describe the
purposes and significances of worship and sacraments in
the Lutheran Church.

Roles ad functions of the Church such as worship,
community, faith, family and freedom.
The Medieval Church
The Spanish Inquisition
Constantine, including who he was and the
influence he had on the Christian Church.
Rituals, routines, Traditions and worship
procedures.
Church buildings
The Traditional Church

Students participate in school Chapel tour and hear


explanations from the Pastor on the different
functions of various parts of the Church building.

Lesson Objectives (i.e. anticipated outcomes of this lesson, in point form beginning with an action verb)
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
Compare what students talk to their friends and family about and what students talk to God about.
Discuss prayer as a way to communication with God about anything and everything
Locate specific Bible verses and passages from the Lion Book of Prayers and Explain their importance to the
topic of prayer.
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:
Observation of prior Christian Studies lessons.
Liaise with Mentor approximately 2 days before
scheduled lesson to allow for editing and improvement
of lesson plan if necessary.
NotePad function on interactive whiteboard is loaded.
YouTube video I Pray International Day of Prayer for
Children (1:33) is loaded and ready to be projected
onto the interactive whiteboard.

Provision for students at educational risk:


Students with learning difficulties (including but not
limited to dyslexia, dyspraxia, low level
concentration, and/or low level cognitive ability) will
benefit from both linguistic and visual aids such as
written work on interactive whiteboard, YouTube
videos, reading from and listening to the Bible and
the Lion Book of Prayers as well as completing
written work in student work books.
Students who are gifted and/or talented will benefit

Teacher to choose various prayers in the Lion Book of


Prayers
Teacher to have copy of Bible (Matthew 6:5-15 located)
Matthew 6:9-13 (Lords Prayer) is projected onto
interactive white board

from linguistic activities and class discussion.


Students will have opportunities to contribute
knowledge and personal experiences of topic.
Students with CAPD, ESL or vision impairments will
have the option of viewing YouTube videos with
subtitles.
Students will have option to use their IT device
(iPad) to type answers if writing proves difficult.

Discussion: What Jesus says about the purpose of Prayer and the Lords prayer

Lesson Closure and Transition:


One student to collect Christian Studies books and put in box.
Teacher dismisses students and they return to their classroom.

Objective 1:
Compare what students talk to their friends and family about and what
students talk to God about.
To meet objective, students will participate in class discussion and complete
table on interactive whiteboard. Students copy table and entries into student
work books. Objective to be judged by verbal assessment and observation of
table entries.
Objective 2:
Discuss prayer as a way to communication with God about anything and
everything
To meet objective, students will participate in class discussion. Objective to be
judged by verbal assessment.
Objective 3:
Locate specific Bible verses and passages from the Lion Book of Prayers
and Explain their importance to the topic of prayer.
To meet objective, students will accurately locate Bible verses and passages
from the Lion Book of Prayers and participate in class discussion on their
importance to topic of prayer. Objective to be judged by verbal assessment.
