Express Instruction

1. Launch NMS Utility


Double click on the NMS shortcut icon on the desktop to launch the NMS utility first.

2. Choose Mode
If it has no modem, and connects to repeater directly, it will approach to the Local control Mode.

Or if it connects with the Modem, it will approach to the Remote control Mode.

Main Windows lists as below picture:

3. Create Sites
Follow the steps in turns to create: RegionDistrictSite
a.

Right click on the any area of the Create Sites, then click on Add Region(R) to create
Region, supposed named as China.

b. Right click on the RegionChina, and then click on Add District to create the District,
supposed named as Fujian.

c. Right click on the District Fujian , and then click on Add Site to create the Site, supposed
named asXiamen .

4. Fill Site Information


After created the Site, then launch the site information management window for filling.
a. Right click the Site Xiamen, then click the Equipment Basic Info(I) to launch the
Site Information management window.

Firmware Ver.: Firmware version.
Backup Battery: It is available only when the system has Backup Battery Unit.
Applicable in GSM, DCS, WCDMA, CDMA:
Select the wanted system, supposed GSM, then its following Band Selective or Channel
Selective mode will be available to selection, the Channel Nr. Item is only available after tick
off Channel Selective mode.
Above operation same to DCS /WCDMA/CDMA system for selection.
Note:
Channel Nr is a full name of Channel Number. Only available under tick off the channel selective
mode, and it shows that the repeater provided configurable Channel quantities.

Below Instructions A suitable for the repeaters with SN:


(SN:12040038, 12040039, 12040040, 12040047, 12040048, 12040049, 12040050, 12040051,
12040052, 12040053, 12040054, 12040055, 12040070, 12040071, 12040072, 12040073,
12040074, 12040075).
E.g: Instructions to set parameters for GSM&DCS Dual bands Pico repeater with output
power 20dBm, 3 tunable sub-bands(GSM:2 tunable sub-bands for DL; DCS:1 tunable
sub-band for DL), corresponding site named as Xiamen:
A.1. create site name first as above steps of 3.create site.
A.2. Set general initial parameters for repeater, the steps as following:
Select correct Equipment_Type as: Digital Band Selective Repeaters
Select the GSM,DCS system (Do not select WCDMA ,CDMA while the repeater does not
includes these two systems).
Select the Channel Selective item both on GSM and DCS systems.
Set Channel Nr as 4 for GSM system (because GSM system has 2 tunable sub-bands) ,
and set Channel Nr as 2 for DCS system (because DCS system has only 1 tunable
sub-band)
After all the parameters are setting complete, then click the button Modify(M)
Click the button Done(D) to finally confirm all the setting.

A.3. Set detailed Parameters on each Systems (GSM &DCS)


A.3.1 open the Local console window
Double Click the corresponding created site name in the Main Window or right click the
created site name and then click RF / Status(S) to launch Local / Remote Console
window. Refer to Pic2 Local Console Window

Note: after above general initial parameters setting, the support systems will tick off on the GSM
&DCS, other systems are not available to choose, unless return to Step A.2 to reset the
requested system.
A.3.2 Read the repeater detailed Parameters in support system (GSM/DCS)
Recommend to read the repeater history information before set parameters.
Click the Monitoring sheet and then click the RF/Status sheet then:
Select support system(GSM/DCS)
click button Get RF/Status to read the history information.

A.3.3 Set the repeater RF/Status Parameters in support systems (GSM/DCS),refer to Pic3
Click the Configuration sheet and then click the RF/Status sheet then:

Select support system(GSM/DCS)

click button Get RF/Status to read the history information

Set the wanted status and parameters for PA ,PA ATT ,LNA ATT, O/P Power
Threshold, AGC Enable, Max Gain as which lists on the Pics3 <Set Parameters in
the Local Console Window

After set each parameters then click the Set button to save it.

A.3.4 Set Channel numbers for tunable Sub-bands in support Systems (GSM/DCS)
A.3.4.1 Set Channels numbers for 2 tunable Sub-bands(both for UL&DL) in GSM System:
Click the Configuration sheet and then click the Channel sheet then:
Select support system(GSM)
Set requested Channels numbers for 2 tunable sub-bands in W1~W4
W1~W2: for first tunable sub-band;
W1 is the starting channel number,W2 is the end channel number
W1&W2 combined parameters to set the request frequency range
in first tunable sub-band.
W3~W4: for second tunable sub-band
W3 is the starting channel number,W4 is the end channel number
W3&W4 combined parameters to set the request frequency range
in second tunable sub-band.
Switch ON the 2 tunable sub-bands
Just switch W2 and W4 as ON ,else W1&W3 as OFF.
W1-2 &W3-4 will Automatically display the frequency corresponding to the
channel numbers which set in W1&W2,W3&W4

A.3.4.2 Set Channel number for fixed bandwidth(for UL) and 1 tunable Sub-bands(for DL)
in DCS System:
Click the Configuration sheet and then click the Channel sheet then:
Select support system(DCS)
Set fixed bandwidth for UL
Just set the requested central frequency channel number in W1
Set 1 tunable sub-band for DL
Just set the requested starting channel number in S1 and end channel number in S2

Note: keep the channel switch as default .

Note: After set all the parameters, recommend return to MonitoringRF/Status page to determine the
setting parameters.

Below Instructions B suitable for the repeaters with SN:

12040058, 12040059, 12040060, 12040061, 12040062, 12040063, 12040064, 12040065,
12040066, 12040067, 12040068, 12040069)
E.g: Instructions to set parameters for GSM&DCS Dual band Pico repeater with output
power 20dBm, 3 Fixed sub-bands(GSM:2 Fixed sub-bands for UL&DL; DCS:1 Fixed
sub-band for UL&DL), corresponding site named as Xiamen:
B.1. create site name first as above steps of 3.create site.
B.2. Set general initial parameters for repeater, the steps as following:

B.3.1 open the Local console window

B.3.4.1 Set Channels numbers for 2 fixed Sub-bands(both for UL&DL) in GSM System:
Click the Configuration sheet and then click the Channel sheet then:
Select support system(GSM)
Set requested central frequency channel numbers for 2 fixed sub-bands in
UL1&DL1, UL&DL2
UL1&DL1: for first fixed sub-band;
UL1 is the central frequency channel number for uplink
DL1 is the central frequency channel number for downlink,
UL1&DL1 combined parameters to set the request frequency range in first fixed
sub-band.
UL2&DL2: for second fixed sub-band;
UL2 is the central frequency channel number for uplink
DL2 is the central frequency channel number for downlink,
UL2&DL2 combined parameters to set the request frequency range in second fixed

sub-band
Keep channel Switch parameters as default.

B.3.4.2 Set Channel number for 1 fixed bandwidth(for UL&DL) in DCS System:
Click the Configuration sheet and then click the Channel sheet:
Select support system(GSM)
Set requested central frequency channel numbers for 1 fixed sub-bands in UL1&DL1
UL1&DL1: for the fixed sub-band;
UL1 is the central frequency channel number for uplink
DL1 is the central frequency channel number for downlink,
UL1&DL1 combined parameters to set the request frequency range in the fixed
sub-band.
Keep channel Switch parameters as default
Pleaser refer to <Pic 5> Set Channel numbers for DCS 1 fixed sub-band

Note: After set all the parameters, recommend return to MonitoringRF/Status page to determine
the setting parameters.

Below Instructions C suitable for the repeaters with SN:


(SN:12040076, 12040077, 12040078, 12040079, 12040080, 12040081, 12040082, 12040083,
12040084, 12040085)
E.g: Instructions to set parameters for UMTS Single bands Pico repeater with output power
27dBm, corresponding site named as Xiamen:
C.1. create site name first as above steps of 3.create site.
C.2. Set general initial parameters for repeater, the steps as following:
Select correct Equipment_Type as: MicroRepeaters
Select the WCDMA system (Do not select other systems while the repeater does not
includes them).
Select the Band Selective item on WCDMA systems
After all the parameters are setting complete, then click the button Modify(M)
Click the button Done(D) to finally confirm all the settings.

C.3 open the Local console window

C.4 Set Set Channels numbers for 1 fixed Sub-bands(both for UL&DL) in WCDMA System
Select support system(WCDMA)
Set requested central frequency channel numbers in UL1&DL1
UL1 Center Fre(KHz):is the central frequency channel number for uplink
DL1 CenterFre(KHz): is the central frequency channel number for downlink,
UL1&DL1 combined parameters to set the request frequency range for fixed
sub-band.
