Loven
Mount Loven is a Montenegrin historical beacon.
What Olympus meant
to the ancient Greeks
is what Mount Loven
means to Montenegrins.
Mount Loven was proclaimed a National Park
for historical and cultural
reasons. Mount Loven
is located in southwest
Montenegro above the
ancient coastal town of
Kotor and Boka Kotorska Bay. The Mount Loven National Park covers
the central and highest part of the Loven range and its highest peaks
are tirovnik and Jezerski vrh. The mountain slopes are rocky with
numerous crevices, pits, and deep funnel shaped depressions in the
karst.

Tara
The Tara River, known
as the tear of Europe,
is a powerful, pure, and
wild river located in the
Durmitor National Park.
Its headwaters originate
in a mountain range in
the northern part of the
country and it is 140 km
long. The Tara joins the
Piva River and forms the
Drina River becoming one
of the longest and largest in the Balkans. For centuries the Tara has
carved the soft limestone surface through which it flows and has created
sculptural gorges, chasms, and rock formations. The rivers erosion has
created an 82 km long and 1300 meters deep canyon, the second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon of the Colorado river. The steep
canyon walls are covered with forests which climb from the depths of
the canyon like fire flames.
Today the canyon attracts tourists craving adventure, thrills, and direct
contact with nature. Rafting down the river on wooden or inflatable
white water rafts is an exciting experience.
