Questions/Suggestions

Be sure to have standard or objective posted on

board. Students should be clear what they are
expected to demonstrate in their writing piece (many
skills will be ongoing but is there a particular skill
that is a focus skill?) Using I can statements may
be easier for students to understand. For example:

I can write stories using a clear sequence of events and descriptive details.

Curious to learn about weekly goals how effective

do you think this practice is? How do you do handle
the management piece of making sure goals are
meaningful? Do some students write the same goals
every week?

How do you keep track that each student makes daily

progress on their piece? How do you record
conversations you have had around strengths/needs?
What tools do you use to increase accountability for
self (or peer) editing?
