Policies and Guidelines


Assalaam Alaikum. May peace and blessings be upon you
General policies:

Please refrain from speaking loudly and/or using foul language around the premise of
the Masjid.

During prayers, no conversation of any kind is allowed inside or around the praying area.

No food or drink is allowed inside the prayer area.

No shoes are allowed inside the prayer area. All shoes must be placed on the shoe
racks.

Parking:
Parking is for Masjid use and parking permit holders only.
o If you would like to park regularly outside the five daily prayers, a parking permit
is required for a fee. Please contact the Masjid Manager, Br. Khan Hassan
(contact information below) for information on how to obtain a parking permit.
During Friday prayers, holidays and in Ramadan (between Maghrib and Isha), the
Masjid parking lot is reserved for the elderly, handicapped, and new guests.
Dress Code:

Men Dress

Ladies Dress

Wearing shorts above the knee, sleeveless shirts, and/or t-shirts with haram
pictures is prohibited inside the prayer area.

Clothing covering the entire body and a scarf covering the hair is required inside
the prayer area.

Everyone is encouraged to abide by the dress code outside of the prayer area as well.

Friday Prayer

The Friday prayer consists of two uninterrupted sermons followed by a prayer. Please
refrain from speaking during the sermon or the prayer.

Overnight Stay:

Overnight stay outside the month of Ramadan is not allowed unless special permission
is given from the board. Please see the overnight stay guidelines below on how to
request permission.

During Ramadan, overnight stay (Tahajjud or Itikaf) is permitted without special


permission.

Talks & Speeches

No one is permitted to give a talk, speech, lecture, or host an event in the prayer area
unless approved by the ISCV Board, in consultation with the Imam.

An application approved by the board is needed before any outside speaker is allowed
to give a Friday sermon, lecture, fundraising, or speech in the Masjid.

Bathroom Cleanliness:

Make sure to keep it as clean as possible.

Turn off the lights after use.

Please do not waste water or other resources including paper towels.

Donations:

Donated items, including clothes and furniture need to be approved by the Masjid
manager or the ISCV Board. Please do not drop off Donations outside the Masjid
entrance.

All book donations need approval by the board before being added to the masjid library
or any of the bookshelves.

Borrowed books must be returned within 3 weeks.

Space Request for Private Events:

Please contact charlottesvillemasjid@gmail.com to request space and check availability.

The renter needs to fill out the space request and liability forms. Approval by the ISVC
board is required.

The application must be filled at least 2 week before the desired start date.

It is the responsibility of the renter to clean up after the event. If extra cleaning is
needed, the Masjid will hire professional cleaners and any additional charges will be
billed to the renter.

No food or drinks are allowed in the prayer area at all times.

The Sound System (including Audio-Visual system) is available upon request and
approval by the board.

The prayer area may not be used for recreational events.

Be advised that the parking at the Masjid is limited.

Please abide by the aforementioned guidelines of Masjid use.

Tables and chairs

Only members are allowed to rent the chairs and tables for use outside of the Masjid. A
Table and Chair renting form needs to be filled at least 48 hours prior to reservation.

The renter is responsible for removing all rented items and placing them back in the
Masjid.

Advertisement

Currently there is no commercial advertisement allowed on the masjid screen.

Announcements and flyers

Announcement may only be made by board members or those approved by the ISCV
board.

A written request to the masjid email 24 hours prior is required for any Friday
announcements.

Any flier or hand outs have to be approved by the ISCV board prior to distribution.

Visitors

Any visitor is permitted to witness the prayer either from the main lobby or inside the
prayer area.

We strongly encourage any visitors to abide by the dress code of the Masjid mentioned
above

Membership Application/Benefit

Everyone is strongly encouraged to fill out and renew the membership form every year
to enjoy the membership benefits including voting, nomination and the use of Masjid
facilities.

Guidelines for staying overnight at the Masjid


1) A request should be sent to ISCV board or the Masjid Manager at least 2 week prior event
2) Provide in the request
a) Names of people staying at the masjid
b) Contact information (ID required) of the person in charge (Minors need parental
permission)
c) Reference contact if the group belongs to a bigger organization
3) Only worship acts are allowed in the praying area (praying, making duaa, reading quran,
halaqas). Other acts like sleeping, cooking, eating should be done outside the prayer area,
mainly in the basement
4) No financial compensation is required from people staying over except in special occasions
determined by the board
5) The audio system of the masjid should be used by the Imam or Board Members Only
6) The people staying over are expected to adhere to the guidelines of the masjid and to
leave the masjid in similar (or better) state when they leave.
7) Damage to the Masjid will be considered a felony and prosecuted accordingly
