The Daily at the University of Washington, Features Editor, Social Media Editor, Reporter (January 2013-present)
Student-run paper published daily in print and online to thousands on campus and in the wider community.
As Features Editor (9/15-present), I oversee a staff of writers, edit content, run features meetings, send out
pitches, and create a weekly features section for the publication.
As Social Media Editor (3/15-6/15), I was responsible for the Facebook and Twitter accounts; collaborated
with editors, created teasers, shared stories, and posted breaking news.

Freelancer for local publications across Seattle. Published in The Seattle Lesbian, The International
Examiner, The Woodinville Weekly, The Seattle Globalist, and South Seattle Emerald.
El Salvador Transnational Task Force (January 2015-March 2015)
Chosen to participate in a task force partnered with the UW Center for Human Rights and the Salvadoran
NGO Asociacin Pro-Bsqueda. Created research reports and documentary videos about the never-beforeresearched La Quesera and Las Canoas massacres that occurred during the Salvadoran civil war.

Used databases to track down and translate 1980s U.S. state reports, human rights documents, Salvadoran
newspaper articles, Radio Venceremos clippings, and other documents to prove these massacres occurred.
Traveled to El Salvador to meet with massacre survivors; video project aimed at reuniting survivors with
their disappeared children illegally taken during the conflict.
Presented findings to Francisco Altschul, Salvadoran Ambassador to the U.S., and circulated the videos on
social media in an effort to locate and reunite disappeared children with their families.

UW Comparative History of Ideas study abroad in Prague, Czech Republic (September 2014-December 2014)
Seminar-style courses that focused on topics including the Holocaust, the nature and impact of the
communist system, the hopes and tensions of the European Union, and how coming to terms with the past
is reflected in Central Europes cultural and art scene today.
Birthright Israel (June 2014)
10-day trip to Israel to learn about the history and culture of the country.
Traveled to major religious and cultural sites across the country and explored current events and politics
The Borgen Project, Editorial Intern (April 2014-August 2014)
Non-profit organization aimed at combatting global poverty.

Worked with Hillel staff and other student interns to implement programming and events to encourage
Jewish life on campus.
Created events to educate students about Israeli culture. Brought Ethiopian-Israeli activist Zion Uness to
campus to speak about his experiences as an Ethiopian refugee who crossed Sudan on foot, lived in a
refugee camp, and was eventually airlifted to Israel through the 1984 Operation Moses.

Pioneer News Group Excellence in Journalism Award in Enterprise Reporting, May 2016
Kaplan Award My article on gentrification in Columbia City was awarded by the Department of
Communication for placement in the Kaplan Quarterly, an online magazine showcasing top student work.
Every year, the department gives five students a Kaplan Award for excellence in narrative writing.
Honors Program Scholarship Awarded to UW Honors student for outstanding academic performance.
Cassie Lawrence Bryant Endowed Scholarship Awarded to student in the Department of Communication
with future goals to pursue journalism.
Phi Beta Kappa honors society, initiated June 2015.
Bordeaux Scholarship Awarded to a rising junior in UW Honors program on the basis of academic merit.
Margaret C. Mykut Scholarship Provided to a student in the Jackson School of International Studies to
support the study of international affairs while studying abroad.
