How It All Started

WhereDidItStart?(historically)
Jeans are typically made from denim or dungaree cloth (a twillweaved cotton
cloth, often colored blue). Blue jeans were invented by Jacob W.Davisin partnership
with LeviStrauss &Co in1871 andpatented by JacobW. Davis and Levis Strausson
May 20, 1873. Jeans would be usually made for cowboys and miners, jeans became
popular inthe 1950samongteenagers.In2010,jeansremainpopularfashionitem,and
they come in various fits. Blue jeans are particularly identified with American culture,

Myths
There was a myth calledTheMyth oftheFrozenJeansand it states thatcold
temperatures arent enough to kill off any bacteria on your clothing. People say that
Levis Strauss advisesfreezingyourjeans would killthegerms that make themsmelly,
saving thewateryouwoulduseinwashingthem.Although,mostofthebacteriaonyour
jeans probably started off on your body. Julie Segre
of the National Human Genome
Research Institute, who studies the skins microbiome, seconds the washing
recommendation. The bacteria that would live onyourjeans onthe sloughed skinand
the dirt nutrients than the jeans themselves, so detaching the sloughed skin could
reducethe microbial load ofyourjeans,shesays.Inheropinion,removingthedirtand
the sloughed skin is more important than removing any bacteria. The bacterial load
doesnt seem to be much affected by how often you go between washings. Freezing

History Of Blue Jeans

Thehistoryof the bluejeansstartedoutwithjust2guysworkingtogethertesting
out different things in a small factory tobeing sold tostores worldwide topeopleof all
genders and ages. I thought that blue jeans just started out with a group of people
working in a big factory making a bunch of jeans for people. This topic is eventually
really important because it tells ushow pants all started inthemaking.Jeansbecame
really popularin the 1970s, butthenspreadallaround theworld. Thesewereoriginally
supposed tobemadefor miners becauseof the supportthejeans gaveto the person.
Miners require a lot of bending down into the ground so the fabric ofthejeans would
need to be stretchable and good fitting for the miners to feel comfortable in them.
People never really thought about the history behind the jeans because these days,
they all just care about howitfitsonthemandthefashionstyle.Therecanhavealotof
meaningtojust1 littlefabricthatwascreatedby 2meninafactory.Youwillneverknow
things if you dont ty. That is why Levis Strauss and Jacob W.Davistested out many
fabrics before making the finalproduct becausetheywantedthingstobejustright. You
should always experiment your thoughts if you want to have a good finale of the
product. If you dont, you might end up with the wrong ingredientsorfabrics anditall
wont turn out exactly how you hoped it would. The history of the blue jeans is very
interestingto learnbecause you canfindoutsomanythingsaboutthemthatyounever

What I learned from others

What I learned from asking others about my topic is that everyone has their
different opinions of how jeans made it into this country. I learned now to always ask
others about what theythink about bluejeanslikehow do youthinktheywerecreated
or brought into this country. Others said that they do think that the clothing will be
aroundfor a whilebecausepeoplehavebeenwearingitforareally longtimenowandI
also think thatthe invention of jeanswont end. Ialsolearnedfromtheinterviewsthatif
youreally thinkaboutitlikewhereitcamefromorhowwasitmade,youwillknowmore
about the jeans. Some of them even said what I said how the jeans were originally
made for miners so the fabric wouldmakeiteasier for themto mineand notjusttheir

people about jeans, they will all have different responses and that you should not
alwaysthinkallof themwillthinkaboutthecreatorofjeansorhowitstarted.Allofthem
got different responsesof howtheyfelt about blue jeansand notoneofthemreallygot
the same response as another. I really thought that they would all have similar
responses of how they would talk about Levis Strauss or Jacob Davis. Most of them
didnt really know about jacob and they knew more about Levis because the most
wellknown jeans are
Levis Jeans
,theywouldprobably knowJacobmoreiftherewere
jeans called
Jacobs Jeans and a big factory like Levis. Levis jeans are very
wellknown worldwide for their fitting and how comfortable they are.The miners today
also still wear jeans to help them work. You should not predict the answers ofothers
because you will neverknowwhattheyare going tosay.Bluejeans play an important
roleinthisworldbecauseitiswhatmostlyeveryonewearstoday.
