Scholarship - Steve, a 1996 Chippewa graduate and valedictorian of his

pursue a rewarding career path in a field that he loved from an early age
GEOGRAPHY. There he learned Cartography (mapmaking), one of many
specialized fields available within a Geography degree. He received an
internship (and job offer) with the CIA in Washington, D.C., worked for an
international aerial photography company here in Ohio, and went on to
receive a Masters Degree in Geography/Cartography from Penn State, where
he had an internship and subsequent employment with The National
Geographic Society in Washington, D.C. He created maps and did research
for their many books and atlases. Our family decided to establish this
scholarship, not only to honor his memory (he died from cancer in 2010), but
also to help promote this field by rewarding a student who plans to major in
GEOGRAPHY at an accredited college or university where they have applied
and been accepted. If there are no candidates for this major, we will
consider a student who will be attending Steve's alma mater, OHIO
