The roles being offered were clearly defined. Amazon has the process of personal interaction after the PPT where you
can ask any number of questions to the speaker. They always come in groups of 3-4 so that they can interact with the

comprehension which was little easy (will get

diagram (was really challenging and was not that

After that the functional interview that lasted for

No GDs and guessing it was a CV shortlist
directly for the interview.

1st round was technical interview, people who
cleared it were sent for HR interview which was
2nd round.
A 3rd round of telephonic interview with Mr.
Himanshu Panda was also in the mix.

A psychometric test followed by 3 round of


interviews.
I was an exception. They took 4 round of
interviews (I have explained below WHY)

They offered roles in 5 verticals/functions and


shortlisted candidates for 4 of them on the basis
of CV. There was a psychometric test conducted
to all the shortlisted candidates. This test was
not an elimination round but an auxiliary one. Do
this well, it's important. Simultaneously, an
application form (physical form) asking for some
basic details and a few VAQs was to be filled
and got before the interview. Every panel had
the copy of application form. Grilled on the ans in
application form
Then, the personal interviews happened (the
next day) - 3 to 4 rounds depending on the panel
and the situation. There is a feedback form that'll
be transferred from one interview panel to other
panel, so make sure your answers are
consistent across panel and in line with what you
wrote in application form.

Shortlisting was done based on the industry
selected while applying.

1. Aptitude Test - 50 questions to be attempted in
12 minutes. Questions were from QA, VA and
LR.
2. Group Task - All candidates in the group were
given 3 chits of paper each that contained clues
to a problem. The problem statement was given
by the panel before the start of discussion.
Candidates were to present their clues to other
members in the group, discuss and analyze the
clues, and logically deduce the answer to the
question.
3. HR Interview - A personality assessment
round. Questions were asked from CV, a few
VAQs and a guesstimate problem.
4. Functional Interview - Questions were asked
from the function that was applied to ('Supply
Chain' in my case). The questions focussed on
the supply chain of an e-commerce firm.

and accuracy was the key).After this the
company released the shortlist.
This was followed by the GD and 2 interview

senior manager of that company and one HR
manager. There is only one interview after GD.

interview was about 2 questions as follows:1) You are the person who handles the Account of Croma on Amazon. Croma is making a profit of 1 lakh per month by
selling on Amazon. You need to suggest ways to improve sales and increase profit of Croma to 1 crore per month. How
to do that?
The key point is that for the first idea I gave to increase profit, I was told that this increased profit from 1 lakh to 10 lakh.
Now 'What else to do'? This question 'What Else' is the favorite question of Amazon. They want you to keep coming up
with ideas and keep answering. This question alone lasted for 25-30 minutes where we kept discussing ways to
improve Croma's profit!
2) What is the total number of Mobile Phones that are sold in Pune( I have lived in Pune for 3 years so this city came
up) in a year?
They key here is to 'think loud'. The interviewer is not looking for the exact answer. He looks for the 'thought process'.
So you need to keep saying what you are thinking.
2nd round was immediately followed by the 3rd round. The 3rd round lasted for about 35-40 mins. This was a round
where the interviewer tried to stress me with topics I am uncomfortable with.

3) What are the entries in a Cash Flow Statement?
There were more random questions on Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet. But he tried to stress me by asking
more such questions even though the roles being offered by Amazon had nothing to do with Finance

55 Minutes Skype interview with one interviewer having 5 years of experience in Analytics. Interview was primarily
focused on testing the knowledge of e-commerce business. First 15 minutes were spent on CV and then the
interviewer started asking questions on the working on e-commerce industry, its potential in Indian context, key metrics
to be measured. Interviewer asked some small cases on data analytics and presentation in eBay's context. The
interview ended with 2 puzzles. Interviewer tried to stress the candidates in the middle of the interview.

In second interview I was asked about my favorite subjects and few basic questions. The interviewer also asked
questions from corporate strategy and finance (very basic concepts like balance sheets, P&L structure etc).

The HR interview was more VAQ based . It was a 10 min interview.

4. You are the head of E-Kart and are looking for whole Kolkata. During Durgapuja, the demand rises by 100%. In
normal time, you need to deliver 10,000 packages to different parts of Kolkata and you have specified number of
people for that purpose. During Durgapuja Days, you need to deliver 20,000 packages as the demand shoot up during
Durgapuja and you already hired extra worker for that. Now Navami & Dashami are holidays in Kolkata. Hence the
packages piled up and you have to deliver 32,000 packages on the day after Dussera. How will you tackle the
situation?

Full Technical Interview for everyone in this round. And the guy was looking for the depth of your understanding. So try
to explain everything in details. Even when you answer the situation based question, try to explain whatever thought
came to your mind and why you accepted/rejected the ideas. Try to provide a short term and a long term approach for
the problem.
They generally prefer lower Work-ex and students with summers in Operations profile. So for me I had to justify how
will I fit the culture and why did I chose consulting profile in summers.
Listen to the presentation they give and try to bring up points from the PPT in answers. Also try and bring in the name
of people who mentioned those points.

questions which are not exactly vaqs but on similar lines. Finally he asked me if I had any questions for him and after
that my interview was over. One important thing is that all the time interviewer was looking at the body language so be
confident and calm. This interview went on for 20-25 minutes.

Round 2 was with the Head of White Goods Category in Flipkart.


35 to 40 minute interview. 1st 15 minutes went entirely on my Summer Internship Project. I had a core Supply Chain
project so he understood the project, my contribution to the project and the business impact.
Next 20 Minutes he gave me a case: "You are in charge of Last mile delivery In bangalore (I had worked in Bangalore
for 2 years so he chose bangalore). The number of orders fulfilled have been declining in the last few days. And
suddenly, today you have triple the average number of orders to deliver in Bangalore, How are you going to go about
this situation?". The discussion went on for 20 minutes or so on this situation. In both the rounds they were looking at
your logical ability to reason out things and your approach to solve a problem.

The second round too was based on similar lines, with focus on why consulting etc. I was asked only one case based
question and this interview was shorter than the first one

For most of the candidates they were given another case in the second interview. But it was more or like an HR round
for me. Why GEP, What all I know about its activities, Why consulting, Challenges in consulting, Why not me, More on
my extra curriculars and much more. ( Dont remember most of them. But all normal vaq types inclined to consulting
field.) 9lasted for some 15 mins)

We always take printouts time-to-time from our floor and send them to the employees at 4th floor. What will I do?
Second - I am a newly appointed team lead. There are two people under me now who were expecting to be at my role
and jealous of me now. But I have to take a KT from then in a week time to start on my work from the next week. Few
conditions were given as follows:
1. They are unwilling to give KT and make some or other excuses/reasons not to give KT.
2. I am having only one week of time with me i.e. till Friday to take the KT.
3. This week's Monday has already gone and I am in the middle of Tuesday.
4. Complete KT will take some 3 days.
After the answer, few more conditions were given as follows:
1. One of the team member left the office when the KT was expected (Tuesday) and then the other has to give the KT
on his behalf as well which he cannot do due to time crunch, so Tuesday is also gone.

The technical round was much longer around for an hour which was face to face.It was a normal interview and the
interviewer was friendly.
He asked me random things from my CV like the competitions mentioned, etc.
He again asked about my work experience and since I had worked on Dynamics ERP was asked in detail about it.He
again asked me about my long term goals in fact multiple times at different points.
He also asked about the company, different products on Microsoft like office 365, which ones I was familiar with,
whether I had done .net programming, the Azure cloud strategy, the different softwares for CRM, etc. Also had to do a
mock pitch to him assuming he is the client and try to sell him the CRM of Microsoft with its advantages over others.

2nd round was HR round. It went for about half an hour for me.
It was a very chilled round. They wanted to check the cultural fit in this round. Most of the questions were from the
given set of VAQs, so prepare them well. I was also tested on my knowledge about SAP as a company, this is done to
find out the eagerness to join the company.

HR Round
Rigorous round!!
Duration: 35-40 minutes
1. Asked me to walk through my whole CV for first 10 minutes.
2. Questions about my key strengths
3. Grilled me on why I rejected my PPO from General Mills!!!! (for like 10 minutes)
4. Incidents where I have shown leadership qualities.
5. Will I be a perfect fit in SAP considering my mechanical+core+SCM and Ops interest.?
6. They explained me my job and told that generally they dont take people having less than 2 years of work ex.
Considering my not-so-relevant work experience why should they take us!!

HR round - Face to face - Two people - one was asking questions and the other one remained silent throughout the
interview. Started with 'Introduce yourself so that we can get started'. Questions are more or less VAQs and based on
the incidents that I described in the application form. Some specific points in CV were pointed out and asked to explain
in great detail. I made sure that my answers are consistent here. E.g. In the previous round they asked me the reason
that I should be taken in SAP and in this round, they asked me to tell one of my greatest strengths. Both lead to the
same thing at the core. So, be alert and conscious while answering. They asked me to describe each and every
incident in great detail and were asking more and more questions specifically towards SOM life and work experience.
Make sure you don't fake incidents. If you cannot recollect some details, tell them that you're not able to remember
exactly and it's totally fine. A question that I asked during PPT made a mark in HR's mind an d he remembered me
when I walked into interview room - that was a good sign to start. So, don't underestimate the importance of asking
good questions during PPT.
Again, your positive attitude, confidence and error-proof flow of speech is the key to sail through this round. Show them
that you're a person who likes to take initiatives and have the tenacity to complete them. Keep the language simple and
positive. Avoid phony and high sounding words. In answering negative toned questions like 'greatest failure',
'weaknesses' etc. try to be as genuine as you can - never behave smartly.

This was an HR round, general discussion to check communication skills, VAQ based questions -Your biggest fear, one
scenario where you had to negotiate & convince customer for something he was not initially willing to do.

Normal face-to-face functional interview (1 member in panel; lasted for around 20 minutes):
Q.1: Introduce yourself.
Q.2: Give 2 reasons why you feel you were selected from your group.
Q.3: What did you do in your summer internship?
Q.4: What is this winter internship that you did?

Interview Round 3

Guesstimates were asked. Again, situations were given were


had to think quickly. Also, I was asked to do a roleplay along
with the interviewer as that was part of my role as Account
manager. The interviewer was Chroma India CEO and I had to
give strategies to increase his revenue 5 times and 10 times in
a month. Onus on the approach majorly. They also looked for
how I pitched to him and my communication skills a lot too in
this interview.
After this round, more 2 rounds were there, the last round was
an HR interview which was again CV based and VAQ based.
Forty Five Mins , very intensive interview.
I was questioned on the same point where I was grilled in first
interview. I was consistent with my answers.
Situation based questions on the profile offered. The interviewer
directed me to the right path but he was expecting more
answers for the same situation.
4th round was a role play round where I need to perform in the
situation given. There were multiple situations given to test my
response.

This was the 4th round. This lasted around 35-40 mins.
1) At first, the interviewer went very deep into my project during
my stint at TCS. He even made me draw a high level diagram of
the project. He asked me the best suggestion I had given in my
project and then asked me to tell a shortcoming of that
suggestion. This whole thing was discussed for about 20 mins.
2) I was asked to make an Elevator Pitch( Google this term)
about my analytical skills
3) I was asked to make a sales pitch to attract a customer to
Amazon
4) I was asked why I was suited for the roles of 'Account
Management' and 'Onboarding Specialist'
5) Whether I have worked on any particular tools before or not.

Duration: Almost 1 hour


Questions were asked on the 'could-be-flaws' from my
internship, work-ex.
Problems on operations related to optimization.
Some situation based questions on Logistics, transportation,

30 Minutes Skype interview with a Senior Manager. He asked


questions on Why e-commerce, Why eBay, Why Analytics, Why
not consulting etc. Then he asked a lot of situation based
questions on handling conflicts, managing teams, leading a
team etc. He also asked for strengths, weakness, short-term
and long-term goals. Some questions were asked on CV as
well.
Interview 4: 30 Minutes Telephonic interview to check cultural fit
in organization. Questions were on the lines of Why ecommerce, Why eBay, Why Analytics etc.

Third round was HR. The interviewer gave his intro and asked
why I wanted to go into consulting. Then he talked about the
traveling that might be required in the job and asked me if I was
comfortable with the traveling. He asked me if I had any
questions for him. Finally he informed me that there will be a
partner round (fourth interview) on the following day.
Fourth interview was more of stress interview. Another case was
given to me in this round, topic being on the similar lines
(telecom). I was asked questions based on CV first and then
some technical questions. While I was answering the
interviewer would randomly throw some other question to you
The last round was a Partner round which took place on the
next day. It was the longest interview which lasted for about 1 hr
and 30 minutes.
The partner expected me to provide a detailed business-plan of
any project scenario that he created mentioning my
assumptions and also mentioning the inflows and outflows of
cash. Also, he wanted me to stress upon the costs and
revenues and come up with a break-even analysis and whether
it is a profitable decision to invest in that project.

I had a 3rd round of telephonic interview with HImanshu Panda.


He asked me about my relocation constraints, if any, and some
other basic HR questions. It was a short 10 min round.

Telephonic Round:

With the Director, Mr. Panda.
Gave me one real problem which one of their clients were
facing and asked my opinion.
Problem: One of their clients want ERP implementation and
they want a team of consultants from SAP to come and take

He asked whether I have worked on SAP before? I said no.

He wasn't very satisfied whether I would be a perfect fit for the
company or not, seeing just 11 months of work experience and
that too not-so-relevant. So he conveyed his message to the

They explained me very clearly what my job role is going to be!!
Basically they were looking for a right attitude in this round to
learn things faster. (as I wasnt having an IT background).
Again some questions on my strengths and leadership qualities
and cross questioning!!

HR and functional round - Telephonic - Two people - HR Head


and Function head - Normal interview. First the functional head
(Head of SAP-T&T India) talked to me. Asked various questions
like what do you know about SAP T&T, why is this interesting,
what is your opinion on transport industry in India, what are the
different software packages of SAP that are applicable in this
domain, who are the major competitors, do you know how is the
industry adaptation for these products, how do you convince a
customer to go for SAP amid competition - tell me the criteria on
which your answer would be based on. Then Head HR took
over and asked me 'Why SAP?', 'If you were to join SAP, what
would you do in the remaining six months of you MBA to set
yourself in the groove easily once you come?'.
So, be prepared about the industry, market size, its evolution
and future, different products available in the market and some
basic facts about them, some USPs of SAP products of your
applied domain, clarity on what you're going to do before you
join SAP and your purpose of joining SAP.

Last round was director round, it was more of formality, some


questions on the industry, past experience and willingness to
join SAP were asked.

I think what secured AP for me was the preparation I did for generic questions like why AP. It is very important to know about the
knowledge in your answers. I was aware they were looking for someone who can work at a plant. I had no prior work ex at a pla

VAQs, CV and how you convey things matters the most.
They will not come here to recruit you for your domain knowledge. Domain Specific Knowledge is a much hyped thing!!
We usually waste much of our time preparing for domain specific part (finance, marketing, ops etc etc). Instead prepare ur VAQ
work experience, live projects, PORs (in decreasing order of priority)) well. Prepare for your overall presentation in an interview.

The entire process was a wonderful and a great learning experience that tested nerves, knowledge and patience. Adding to the
interspersed in previous answers,
1. Confidence matters
2. Be clear on why SAP, why that specific domain you've applied for, your purpose of MBA, your strengths and weaknesses
3. Be prepared with 4-5 incidents that made an impact in your life. Present them in a sequential and logical manner with neat de

5. Have knowledge of SAP products, at least of those in your domain
