Dear Contact Person Name,
As a resident of the Riverside county area, it is with great excitement to have the opportunity to
apply for an elementary teaching position in the ______________ Unified School District. I have
always believed that when one's goal in life is to be a teacher, she is never quite done with her own
education. After completing my undergraduate studies in English Literature and Comparative World
Literature with an overall 4.0 GPA at the California State University of Long Beach, I started substitute
teaching in the Lake Elsinore and Temecula Valley Unified School Districts. Soon enough I discovered
my niche at the elementary level and returned to school to begin working on my Multiple Subject
Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching through the University of Redlands.
I recently finished my fourteen-week student teaching assignment, and will be applying for my
Multiple Subject Preliminary Teaching Credential shortly.
My fourteen-week student teaching assignment was completed in a fourth grade classroom at
William Collier Elementary School in the Lake Elsinore USD. During this assignment I was able to
bring more technology into the classroom by using the iPhone application Plickers as a formative
assessment tool to gauge student understanding. After going through the CAASPP state testing process
with the students I recognized and ameliorated a lack of essential computer skills by getting them on
KidBlog.org. I used this website to pose questions about Island of the Blue Dolphins that students were
required to respond to, but could also see and reply to how their peers commented as well. This created
a wonderful dialogue within the classroom where the students were eager to participate and engaged in
the learning process. As a culminating project the students created their own posts about whether or
not they would recommend future fourth grade students to read the novel. Teaching these students
basic computer skills while enhancing their comprehension of a classic novel was extremely rewarding.
When I was an elementary school student I attended a visual and performing arts school and
participated in drama performances throughout high school, so I have a strong value for the arts.
During student teaching I taught the students the fundamentals of reading music and music
appreciation. We also completed a study of abstract art where students made abstract sunsets over the
ocean using watercolor paint and colored pencil.
Although my student teaching was completed exclusively in a fourth grade classroom I have
significant substitute teaching experience in kindergarten through fifth grade. This experience has
made me quite flexible and open to the very different challenges, rewards, and developmental needs of
students at each of these grade levels. In addition to my experiences in education, I am responsible for
instructing pharmacy technicians and pharmacists on a regular basis in my current position as a
Certified Pharmacy Technician Trainer at CVS Pharmacy. This position has allowed me to develop

incredible bonds with the people of my community by being patient, understanding and empathetic to
their individual circumstances and needs.
Teaching within the ______________ Unified School District will allow me to give back to the
area that nurtured and developed my initial love of learning, yet it will also supply me with invaluable
teaching experience as I make my move into the field of education. With my background in education
and life experiences, I believe I am an excellent candidate for your open elementary teaching positions,
and that I would quickly become an asset to any of your schools. I look forward to hearing from you
and speaking further about these positions.
Sincerely,

Lacey J. Bryant
