LESSON PLAN
Overview
Students will be placed into pairs where they have already been assigned based on personality.
They will be creating a virtual museum using a template where they will place the information and pictures of the
art within the PowerPoint.
They will be given approximately three days to complete the task (2 hours per day).
The overall assignment is to research 8 pieces of art within a pre-set time period that has been given to the student
at random.
They will need to include the picture, and a description of the piece that includes context, form, content and
function of the art.
The students will also be presenting this information to the class and their final products will be given to the
Museum of Art in Reno, Nevada.
Students will be working together as a part of collaboration. Each student in the pairing will need to have their
part completed in order for the museum to be complete. As a whole class, the students will be creating a virtual
museum of the 20th century to show the progression and changes of history through art. Their work is
interdependent upon one another in order for the entirety of the project to be complete.
Students are being paired between an Academic Support Special Education class and an AP Art History class. The
students in Academic Support are getting support for their U.S. History classes and working through the decades
of history. While the AP Art History class is looking at Art throughout the World, they will be incorporating many
aspects of different academia including History, Art, Language Arts and Computer Technology. This creates in
interdisciplinary assignment.
The assignment is for students to create a virtual museum that deals with Real World problems, lack of
information about history. Students are going to be creating a virtual museum that will be given to the Museum of
Art which will help community members become informed about the changing art throughout history and how
history changed art. Students will need to be innovative when finding these pieces of art and relating it to
historical changes.
The project will allow for students to be the designers of their own technology project. Students are creating their
virtual museum with one another that will become a story of the 20th century.
LESSON PLAN
At the end of their project, students will be able to give feedback on their project as a whole and what they would
do differently next time when they are researching and creating their project. The students will also be able to give
feedback on the assignment and the teacher of how the information was presented and what could be different for
next time.
Students are required in this project to support their evidence of art and the history behind the art within their
descriptions they are creating, for each piece of 8. The project is going to require students to communicate to three
separate types of audiences: peers, teachers, & community members.
