One significant learning experience in these course is

the ability to identify an abused child and knowing the
steps to take, which is by reporting the case to the
child services and taking the child away from the
abuser to a safe and free abusive environment that will
providing a trusting and nurturing environment to the
child. Then further perform a head toe assessment,
accurately and objectively will document with diagram
and pictures even if the parents of the child did not
give their consent and making sure I build trust with
the child so that the child will feel he or she is in a
secured hands. For example when I see or observe a
child playing with a baby toy in an appropriate way I
could suspect a sexual abuse. Other signs could be
bruises on a child body a whip signs on the body,
always sad, looking unkept, keeping to self and usual
torch to self or other children.

I rate myself good, because before now I didnt know

how to report a suspected abuse nor able to identify
an abused child in the way I will not be implicating
myself or complicate matters so these teaching helped
me greatly to be well educated on what and how to

confidentiality of the client. I was able to achieve this
because I came to class, read my books.

I will apply this learning in my current practice by

observing children as I volunteer in church and my kids
daycare of any form of abuse or neglects going on,
observing the way they play with toys or interact with
each other and also observing the physical body for
marks bruises and their general behaviour and mood,
expressions anything that gives me a clue that a child
is undergoing abuse. I will also use this medium as a
nurse in the future to identify children under abuse as
they come to the company where I work.
