STUDENT LED CONFERENCES PRIMARY & KINDERGARTEN

Monday 9 May 2016

Dear Parents,
On Tuesday 24 May students from JK Year 6 at Cherry Blossom, Lotus and Xi
campuses will be involved in Student Led Conferences.
There are no regular classes on this day and students only come to school for
their designated Student Led Conference time with a parent. Once you and your
child have completed the Student Led Conference, your child will go home with you.
There will be no bus service on this day. There will be no ASAs on this day either.
Students are asked to come to their conference wearing their uniform.
At AIS we believe that the Student Led Conference is an important celebration of
student learning and allows you as a parent to share first hand experiences with your
child.
The exact structure of the Student Led Conference may differ between year levels,
but conferences may incorporate sharing of portfolio or learning journals, goal
sharing as well as various single subject sharing. EAL students are expected to visit
the EAL classroom as well.
Primary Year 2-6 : There will be 4 sessions during the day: 8:15 9:45am; 10:1511:45 am; 12:30- 2:00pm; 2:30-4:00pm.
Kindergarten and Year 1 : There will be 6 session times during the day: 8.15-9.15;
9.15-10.15; 10.30-11.30; 12.30-1.30; 3-4pm
The booking system for Student Led Conference times is available online using the
following link:
https://sobs.com.au/pt/parent.php?schoolid=861
To sign up for conference times please follow the link and choose the time/times that
suit you. You may have to use the arrows to adjust your childs year level. Please
note that in order for conferences to run smoothly, we must limit the number of
students and parents in the room during any one session. Therefore, we recommend
that you sign up early if you have a specific preference for times. Please be
mindful of the time of your Student Led Conference and adhere to the time. If you
finish your conference before the allotted time, please feel free to depart. You are not
required to stay for the whole time.

Teachers will not be directly involved in the conferences. Their role will be to
observe, monitor and facilitate as needed. If you would like to have an interview with
the teacher, you are welcome to schedule an appointment at a later date.
We are pleased to be able to offer child-minding at CB if you have another child
waiting for their conference. Students will be supervised in the Library. You will be
able to drop your child for the duration of their siblings conference and then pick
them up when it is concluded.
Please do not hesitate to contact your childs teacher if you have any further
questions regarding the Student Led Conferences. We look forward to seeing you for
this important event.
Sincerely,
