Early People
In 1500 Native Americans were living in all parts of the
southeast.
The Cherokee tribe had settled in the Appalachians. They
built
villages to live together, everyone had a job, while the woman
did
farming and gathering, the men hunted and fished.
Europeans arrived to the coast. In 1565 St Augustine built in
Florida, in 1607 the English founded Jamestown in Virginia. In
1718 The French built New Orleans by the Mississippi River.
The Europeans developed plantations, and forced native
American into slavery to work there, Europeans brought millions
of African to the America as enslaved workers. The Settlers
wanted to have a better life and traveled across the
Appalachians.
Activity:
Make a time line with the most relevant facts of the History of the people
of the Northeast Region.
Tourism
The regions tourism industry started with its beaches.
Tourism is the selling of products and services to people
who visit a place for fun.
People can also enjoy museums, golf courses, riverboat
rides, and theme parks.
HOMEWORK
1.Make a list some Touristic attractions of the Southeast
and find images online, paste them in your notebook.
