World War II

The War that Changed the World

It was 1944 and the war was still raging at its fullest. The U.S. was still sending
troops to France and millions of people lost their lives by fighting for their
country. One of Germanys biggest help was Johann Richard West. Johann
Richard West was a famous fighter pilot mostly known for his 34 shot down
planes crossing the British border, but he didnt even want to fight in the war
and kill all these innocent people. It was the law that all men between twentyone and thirty-one had to sign up for military assistance. Todays mission was
the same as every day, but today he was feeling tired and was in a bad mood.

We are falling behind, since the Americans are sending troops to France. They
are gaining a lot of land. We need a back-up plan.
Yes, Mr. Hitler. We are trying our best.
We can do better than that! Send our 6 best fighter pilots.
Yes, Sir.

The very next day they sent Johann Richard West and 5 other amazing

fighter pilots off. As he was flying over the sea all the lights in the cockpit went
out! Seconds later he had lost his orientation and all the other fighter pilots. As
he was trying to figure out what was happening he heard a loud boom. Under
all the pressure he had forgotten all about him being above British territory! He
was terrified. He didnt have time to think he yanked his control column and

started to nose dive. He was a great pilot but no matter how great of a pilot you
are, you cant save a plane when its shot down. The G-force was immense,
pieces were falling off the plane and then suddenly everything went black. He
got knocked out because of the immense G-force. When he woke up his plane,
or parts of it, was floating softly on the water.
What do you mean he got shot down!
Well, he didnt exactly get shot down, from all we know they lost him as they
were crossing the channel, Sir.

Send troops to look for him immediately!

Yes, Mr. Hitler

The very next day they sent 7 men to look for Johann Richard West, the men

were very strong and brave, but nobody could find his plane or him. After 5
harsh hours of looking for any sign of Johann Richard West, they gave up.
Meanwhile Johann was trying his best to stay afloat, but the strong currents and
huge waves made it very hard for him. As hope was running out he saw land. It
was to good to be true! Was it a hallucination? Was it true? He was too hungry
and desperate to wait so he started paddling.
Sir, we have some news about Johann Richard West.
Did you find him!?
More or less, Sir.
What do you mean more or less?!
Well, we didnt find him, the British did.
What?! How could this happen!? Do something! Now!

Yes, Sir. We are sending people to rescue him as we speak.

As he arrived to shore, he started to hesitate, and finally he built up the

courage to step on shore. On land, he fast regretted his decision. Two policemen
were already running to him. They saw him dock there and they thought he was
up to no good. He started running as fast as he could, witch was not very fast.
He was very tired and hungry. After twenty painstaking minutes of nonstop
running, Johann got too tired and gave up. Because he was so exhausted the
tripped headfirst and passed out. He woke up in a small dark, Grey, rectangular
room. He thought he was dead, but then someone burst through the door! He
was wearing a police uniform and looked very angry. Johann didnt even have
time to catch his breath, as the man started shouting at him in English. Johann
didnt know what he was saying, but by the look on his face, you could tell he
was not very happy. Neither was Johann he demanded an explanation but so did
the police officer. He wanted to know who he was, and why he had docked on
British territory. Johann didnt really understand him, so he started shouting
back at the officer in German.
Did they find him yet?!
Unfortunately no, we couldnt get the troops to England safely so we had to
return. But we do know where he is.
Well tell me, thats what Ive been asking for the whole time!
He is located in New Forest, Sir.
Send troops immediately!
We cant! It would be too risky.
When I say send troops, I mean send troops!
Yes Sir! We will try our best.

Back in New Forest Johann didnt have it so easy. He tried to understand what
they where saying but none of them could understand a word of each others
language. To communicate they used hand signals and facial expressions.
Sometimes that wouldnt work so they drew pictures for each other so they
would understand better. When they finally found out what was happening, the
officer sent him into another room. The room looked like a jail cell, but just a
little nicer. After three hours of waiting around and doing nothing someone
came to his cell-like room with a small plate of food. Johann tried to talk with
him but he just walked away.
Are they there yet? Are they there yet?
No Sir, we just sent them on their way 12 minutes ago.
What!? Only 12 minuets ago, I told you to hurry up, and again, when I say it, I
mean it!
Ok I will tell them to hurry up Sir.

Come on, hurry up people, Mr. Hitler said we need to hurry up and find

Johann said one of the troops. They were crossing the channel. Then suddenly
all the lights went out in the cockpit and seconds later they heard a big boom.
They had forgotten that they where over British territory so the pilot yanked the
control column, and the plane started to nose-dive. The G-force was immense
and they all got passed out. When they woke up they were floating softer than
Johann did. They did not know what to do, they were lost! As they tried to figure
out what was happening they saw land. When they saw land, they forgot all
about them being on British territory. So they started paddling as fast as they
could. When they finally arrived they got off as quick as possible, and went to
look for help. But as they were looking for help some Police officers took a look
at their uniform and knew they were Germans, so they charged at them with all
their power. When they finally caught up to them they shot at them but they
missed. Finally when they ran into a dead end, the police caught up to them and
they arrested them on the spot.

They got caught! What do you mean?

The exact thing that happened to Johann, happened to them, Sir

Well, I demand that the prison guards let him go!

Aaauuhh, I hate this jail. Why do I have to be here, I am the one risking my
life, for my country, and plus I dont want to be fighting. And I am the one in
jail!
As the troops arrived to the prison, they went to their cells immediately.

(D-Day, 9 Months later)

We must surrender, millions of people have died and the Allies are gaining
land as we speak!
. wha, wha, what bu, but we ca, can, cant do it now, we we have
so much to lose

Click click BANG! Someone fired a gun! Mr. Hitler you are stupid, ok?!
He looked down as Adolf Hitler shot himself. He called medical care
immediately, but it was no use. After seeing Adolf Hitler die he surrendered the
war and stopped all Nazi organisations.

Hey, Hey Johann, I heard that Germany is surrendering!

Really?! Will they let us go then?

I dont know but I think so! one of the troops said to Johann.
Exactly when they they thought they would never see Germany again the
military flew them back to Germany. There were mixed emotions. They were
happy because they got to see home again. They were also sad because of all the
people who died in the war for their country.
