Boxing

It is a direct competition, which means the competitors are competing

simultaneously.
The goal is to defeat the opponent within the allotted time limit using mainly
the fists.
Olympic boxing began in 1904, but was not included in the 1912 Olympics
because it was illegal in Sweden at the time.
Notable competitors include George Foreman (USA), who had a record of 765-0, and Anthony Joshua (GBR) , who is the most recent super-heavyweight
champion.

Shot-put

Shot put is an indirect competition which means that competitors take turns
and are compared and whoever has the best score/time wins.
The competitors try to throw the shot put the furthest distance to win. The
thrower is within a circle and throws the ball standing still.
Shot put began in Scotland in the 12th century and was used as a way to find
the strongest man. It was in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in
Rome.
Randy Barnes has a gold and silver Olympic medal and has a world record of
23.12 m. Ulf Timmermann has a gold Olympic medal and is in second for
world record of 23.06 m. Natalya Lisovskaya has 4 gold medal world
championships and holds the women's record of 22.63 m.

Golf

Early forms of golf come from the Roman game of paganica.

The original game traces back to Scotland (international golf
federation). Many people think golf means gentlemen only
ladies forbidden but golf actual comes from a word meaning
club.
Charles sanders took gold in Paris 1900. Margaret Abbott
was the first woman to take gold in any sport also took gold
in golf.
Against the standards means the person with the best score
wins
