Microsystem:
The Microsystem is the center of Bronfenbrenners ecological circle
where the child is at the center. This system consists of whom ever the
child considers his or hers immediate family it could also be a teacher or
peers someone who interacts with him or her on a daily basis and has in
impact in the childs life. A religious institution may also be part of the
childs microsystem but it depends on how old the child is according to
Child Family and Community the younger the child, the smaller the
number of Microsystems (pg 7).
In my life my mother and father and older siblings were part of my
microsystem I am the smallest out of six and all my older siblings
all influenced my upbringing since we all lived under the same
roof.
My headstart program teacher was also part of my microsystem
since I spend about 8 hrs a day with her in my mind she was
special to me I felt we had a relationship on a personal level.
Mesosystem:
The Mesosystem can be looked at somewhat like the game the
monkey in the middle. The childs parents or caregivers may have direct
contact with the outside person but not necessarily with the child but yet
still have an impact in your life. In some cases the extended family
members may be part of the mesosytem of a child since they take part of
your life as a whole but may not have direct contact with you.

In my life my older sisters boyfriends gave me xmas

presents and birthday gifts threw my sisters but we never
really interacted in actual conversations.
In my childhood neighborhood an old man lived at the end of
my block although I saw him on his rocking chair every day I
never knew his name. My parents spoke to him and his
family quite a lot but I never did.
Exosystems:
The Exosystems basically is the outside of the childs world such
as big institutions like the school system or government agencies like
Welfare and Food stamps, health care, and even churches the child is not
participating directly with these institutions but they do affect a great
deal in the childs life.
As a child the school district I attended was not that good we
had a lot of budget cuts resulting in the cuts of all my
elementary field trips they went from 3 to 5 field trips a year
to 1 a year only.
As a child my dental health insurance did not cover white
fillings and therefore my mother had to resort to taking me
and my brother and sisters out to Mexico to get our dental
work done.
Macrosystems:
The Macrosystems is the second to list ring on this ecological circle it
is also known better or interpreted as the stereotypes that affected a child
globally. Other components to the macrosystem is culture, values,
beliefs, or lifestyles.

As a child the beliefs and customs of my family lead to my older

sisters getting married at young ages, that their children were my
age one of my sisters was pregnant at the same time my mother
was pregnant of me.
Because of tradition my brothers never wanted to continue school
after high school due to the fact that they were 18 and at that age
your now a man and so they had to get jobs.
Chronosystem:
The Chronosystem involves time. It has to do with the changes
that- occur in the childs environment that affect the childs
development. Such as drastic events like a war or terrorists attacks like
9-11. Maybe growing up in a community with special families such as
same sex marriages can mold a childs life to have different perspectives.
During my childhood 9-11 made a huge impact in my life it was a
very scary experience my mother traveled back and forth from
Mexico to the U.S. many times a year and I accompanied her and
after this tragic event our airport experiences were never the same
again.
Another event that changed my life was war! The U.S. went into
war with Iraq and I began to see that war was not just in the history
books I read or the stories I heard it was going on in real life and
many of my friends family members and neighbors had someone
they were close to or knew who were now fighting over seas and to
me that meant so much.

Urie Bronfenbrenners ecological model describes a system in which

a child as at center and everything else surrounds him or her. He is
ultimately correct. The Microsystem being the closest to the child has a
major impact on who the child well grow up to be. Everyone in the
childs microsystem who have a personal direct relationship have an
important role in the childs life. As a child we are born to be molded
into what we become as in adult and it begins at the Microsystems. But
it is definitely inner wind with the Mesosytems which may be people in
the childs life in which he might see but does not have a direct
relationship with, it could be that a parent or care giver or even sibling
have a personal relationship with the outside person and the child does
not yet they still impact the childs life in some sort.
