1.

Filing
Filing is the best part of accounting steps. It is because clients will
give us their raw receipt without any sign of subject. From this
process I did help permanent staff to organise the raw material to
set them properly in the file. It will help me to double check the
mistake has been made before and it easier to find the missing
payment.

2.

Casting
In audit department casting is all about double check. Whether to
check the clients calculation or task from a staff who wants me to
double check their calculation. Actually, in accounting is more than
that. After the filing process casting is the most important part. I
need to be more particular and certain so that I did not miss out any
number in the receipt. In casting process I need to clarify the type of
payment has been made by clients before I go through with
preparing payment voucher.

3.

Preparing payment voucher

My first day in PBAG are preparing payment voucher. At first I do not
realised the important of preparing these payment voucher.
Although

its

take

some

time

to

understand

it

because

of

overlapping task but, I did realised it day by day. Preparing payment

voucher will help the accountant to key in transaction in the system
has been made by clients.
4.

Key in transaction
PBAG used variety types of system. In PBAG, we are familiar with
UBS and SQL. I am using UBS system most of the time. Its not
difficult for me to understand the system because of I need to get
my certification for UBS in semester four.

5.

Analytical Procedure (Vouching and Posting)

Our CEO said in the training hours that analytical procedure is very
important process. From this procedure we can detect unpleasant
transaction has been made by client. From my experience most of
T.H. TAN AND ASSOCIATES | SITI HAFIZA NASRIAH BINTI MOHAMMAD
NAHARUDDIN

26

the time client only made human mistake. There is a time client
give us uncomplete general ledger account. In this situation I need
to made remarks so that auditor can call client to get the missing
account.
6.

Preparing Form E listing

Preparing Form E listing are more to taxation. We do need to
separate the Salary, allowance, EPF contribution and SOCSO
contribution. By preparing Form E listing its easy for accountants to
key in the grand amount in E-Filing.

7.

Training
All the staffs in every department in PBAG are compulsory to involve
in training session. There two types training in PBAG first learning
and teaching session and case study session. As an intern in
accounting and audit department I did involve in both training
session with other trainee.

5.0

RELEVANCE OF COURSES TAKEN AT KPM TO THE PRESENT WORK

EXPERIENCE
1. Auditing
In study field this subject are more to reading and understanding. But
in real situation audit are more to action must be taken by auditor.
There are steps must be follow. As an intern we are only given a chance
to make analytical procedure, break down and print audit report.

T.H. TAN AND ASSOCIATES | SITI HAFIZA NASRIAH BINTI MOHAMMAD

NAHARUDDIN

27

2. Company taxation
I did pass this subject in semester five. In the real working environment
this subject are related to the audit subject. After break down process
are finished, its help the accountant to accumulate the tax has to be
paid by the clients. It helps client to reduce their tax payment.
3. Public Communication Skills
Throughout this internship I always need to talk to other people mostly
staff. There is time when CEO will have a discussion with the trainee to
talk about path after internship. I am glad to say that I can talk as
much as I can with confident.
4. Company Law
This course helps me as a student and intern to understand Articles of
Association (AOA) and Memorandum of Association (MOA) in the
simplest way. In PBAG as an intern we do need to touch all
departments to understand the company more. Company law subject
used most in secretarial department and audit department. There rules
for clients need to fulfil according to the AOA and MOA such as number
of board of director, appointment of auditor and etc.

5. Financial Accounting 1
Because of most of PBAG clients are Small Medium Enterprise (SME),
there is not a lot of difficult transaction to be made. I need to know the
basic principles and debit and credit transaction.

6. Financial Management
During the break down for audit process as an intern I did help
permanent staff to calculate annuities for car loan. During this process I
did see and understand how the clients company are make the loan
from bank to buy company cars.
7. Entrepreneurship

T.H. TAN AND ASSOCIATES | SITI HAFIZA NASRIAH BINTI MOHAMMAD

NAHARUDDIN

28

In this subject all the student learn the variety type of company nature
such as sole proprietorship, partnership, public limited company and
private limited company. From this subject I need to make up a
business proposal to understand more the business nature and how the
business works. Its very useful. This subject and the real field are very
close. It is because as an intern I need to understand the clients nature
and needs to differentiate the personal and business payment.
8. Accounting Information System
In this subject there is a lot of things I did learn especially to
understand type of cycle and how did the process happened. When I
was in internship the view are more clear instant of learn in the class
especially in expenditure cycle.

9. Mandarin
Because of most of the staff and clients are Chinese, they are prefer to
speak in Mandarin. The situation is very odd to me to adapt. But, by
remembering Chinese character, words and sentences the ice between
us has been break. I also can help other Malay intern to understand the
receipt has been written in Mandarin and help them to understand
what other staffs are talking about.

10.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In PBAG every morning all the staff includes interns we need to attend
Admin updates and makes a cheer sounds PBAG Go For Growth, Oh
Yes. This spirits I earn during the Corporate Social Responsibility. We

Can I have your opinion about the working environment and

study environment? So, in your opinion which one is better?

Mr. Cheng:

I think working environment is better. Because, I can see things

from different perspective and working environment is more to the
practical world.

Me:

How did you know about PBAG?

Mr. Cheng:

I know PBAG from advertisement in newspaper.

Me:

Before you work at PBAG, did you have any working

Me:

What are the big changes you have experienced when you
are working in PBAG?

Mr. Cheng:

Because of I have been working here for 20 years, I can see a lot of
changes happened. First, the biggest changes are this company
itself from the traditional firm its become as a one stop accounting
firm. Second, we have many divisions and our company become
bigger. Lastly, all the work we do it computerise by using software
and excel.

Me:

What do you want in your career field and your life?

Mr. Cheng:

For me in my life I want to retired earlier then I can enjoy my life by

travel. And for my career field, I want to pass all the knowledge to
the juniors so that I can archive what I want in my life.

II.

Supporting Staff
The person I had interviewed is my own mentor in the office. Her
name is Ng Pei Che or her nickname in office is Kathleen. She has
been work for one year seven months in the company.
Here the conversation begins:

Me:

Ok, lets start this conversation by asking your full name.

Me:

What about your age can I ask about it?

Pei Che:

Sure. 26 years old

Me:

You have been study before. So, can I ask where your
college is and until what level you had reached?

Pei Che :

I have completed my degree studies at INTI International University.

Me:

Can I have your opinion about the working environment and

study environment? So, in your opinion which one is better?

Pei Che :

In working environment, I need to follow the rules and regulations of

the company such as need to apply for leave, need to wear
appropriate attire; working hours are fixed to 8 hours per day etc.
Besides, in working environment, I need to communicate with
clients, hence I need to have strong communication skills in order to
communicate with different clients. Other than that, in working
environment, I need to understand the office politics, which is not
easy at all. In working environment, I learnt a lot of what is the
practical business world doing which I cant learn from any
textbooks or articles.
In study environment, I just need to focus on very specific thing,
which is to get good results or to study hard. I also can enjoy long
holidays during semester breaks which I can go for travelling and
rest. I can also wear casual in study environment. Most of the time
in study environment, there will be spoon feeding from the
lecturers. Students tend to get the knowledge or answer from the
lecturers without doing much research.
In my opinion, I think that working environment is better. This is
because working environment taught me and give me a lot of
experience which I cannot get at study environment. Working
environment also forced me to become a matured adult, like the
way I handle stress, the way I handle problems, and the way I
communicate with people etc., which is totally different during my
study time.

Me:

Since I started my career in PBAG, I realized that practical business

some time to learn up how to apply the theories I have learnt.
Besides that, the beginning of GST era also is one of the changes I
have experienced when I am working in PBAG. This is the time I

Miss Cindy

I would like to introduce the CEO of Perfect Biz Advisory Group Miss
Cindy Choo. She is very talented person I ever met. She got a lot of
certification such as CPA Australia, Certified Financial Planner (CFP),
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and etc. it shows that she is very
aiming for something when she takes a lot of certifications seriously.

She was graduated from University in United Kingdom. Inherit her

father talent and own company C.H. Choo Sdn. Bhd. She is a leader at AIA.
Even though she needs to handle a lot of things in one time but she are
able to be in the company when the company needs her.

As a leader she always reminds the permanent staff to always ready

to teach each other. Its not just a word from her, even she is busy as busy
as bees she always try her best to set a time to be in training session with
us to teach us. She is very good listener. She never makes a mimic face
when we said wrong facts.

PROBLEM/ SUGGESTION

1. Miscommunication in the company because of races

Most of the staff in PBAG is Chinese. It is hard to understand each other in
the first week. Most of the staffs are translating words by words when it
comes to talk. Even though it is hard to understand each other, we are
allowed to explain what comes to our mind before they give us furthers
explanation.
2. Unsecure internal control
Everyday there is a lot of people passing by come in and out the company
building. It is very unpractically when the ex-staff or staff friends come in
and use the company computer. The information in the computer maybe
will defect.
3. Increase number of staff
There are a variety type of software are used in PBAG such as Secretary
2000, UBS and SQL. Most of the data are computerised. Because of this
situation numbers of staff are decrease and most of the staff makes add
on job. They are not able to made it all one by one and need overtime.
4. Upgrading computer system and format the computer
In PBAG there are lot of computers. In the meantime, the system used by
the company is not upgraded and it causes a lot of trouble when need to
connect to the internet. Most of the time tasks given are overlap just
because of the computer are too slow need to be format.
5. Lecturer visit for every state
This is a suggestion to be made which is a visit by the lecturer in every
state. From this visit students will be more alert about the time. When the
lecturer are coming for a visit thats means the training will come to the
end.
6. Chatting and mingle time
Trainee is like a burden free to the permanent staff. If we are not doing
anything in the particular time we will be questioned. But in the same time
the permanent staff can have their chatting and mingle time with the
other staff.

7. Lack of experience
Experiences are the most important things in the work field. There are a
lot of things needs to study first. Example we need to study how to used
photocopy machine, without a basic knowledge how to use photocopy
machine it hard for a trainee to print out the audit report it easier way.
8. Respect
Respect is the most treasured attitude in working environment. When we
respect the eldest, other will respect us back. I did learn a lot during this
internship. I do need to respect the time of works, so that the time are not
being wasted with doing other unimportant task. The priority comes first.

CONCLUSION-BENEFITS/ RECOMMENDATIONS

There are a lot of things I has learned during my internship. The objectives are
archived. From this Industrial training I did archive these objectives of industrial
training:
1.

Experience the discipline of working in a professional organisation

2.

Develop understanding of the functioning and organisation of a

business

3.

Interact with other professional and non-professional groups

4.

Apply accounting principles and skills

5.

Develop technical, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral

and written

I did believe that Industrial training also gives employers an opportunity to

assess

future

employees.

I did

learn

commitment and

ability to

take

responsibility, make sound decisions, and apply technical skills during the
internship. Industrial training gives students opportunity to see their effort for
past 3 years are satisfied or not. I highly recommend Industrial training to the
junior so that they can new experience in their life.
