Introduction:
As war rages on in Syria we do our part to help out our fellow muslims in distress. Its no secret
that this problem has gotten out of hand and needs to be addressed and controlled.Saudi Arabia
acknowledges the importance of the protection and establishment process of the refugees. As of 2013
there were 800,000 syrian refugees that number nearly quadrupled in the following three years. While
many have successfully escaped the dreadful war there are still millions who are internally displaced and
are need of assistance , our assistance. Let us not forget about other countries like Congo and Nigeria that
are suffering through a similar situation and are in need of our aid.
In the past few months we have been getting claims that we have accepted zero refugees in an
attempt to discredit us.Let me remind you that the Gulf States have not signed the UN Convention on
refugees. This only means that we dont keep track of refugees that we let in.We have successfully help
secure the lives of more than 500,000 syrians through our visa system. And rather than leave them at
refugee camp we have provided them with temporary homes , schools and free medical attention.
Although this is temporary we hope that after the war has ended we can help rebuild their destroyed
homes so they can return peacefully to Syria. Not only do we provide shelter to fellow muslims in distress
we have also been able to donate $700 million dollars in humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon
and Jordan.
In the past we have collaborated with organizations like UNHCR to help out refugees in need , in
1993 we accepted approximately 35,000 Iraqi refugees. If we can work something out with the UN we
could replicate this to help deal with the current crisis. Saudi Arabia can also help end the root of this
Syrian crisis by sending forces to fight against ISIS. As for the refugee crisis we could provide temporary
shelter to a few thousands and let them return to Syria as soon as this war is over.
