Problem 1
Two cranes support a concrete bucket as shown. Knowing that the 200-kg bucket contains 700
kg of concrete, determine the tensions in the cables AB and AC.

Problem 2
Two forces and a couple act on the beam as shown. If the system of forces is represented by a
single resultant force F, determine the x coordinate of the point of intersection of the line of
action of F with the x-axis.

Problem 3
The bar AC is supported by the cable BD and a bearing at A that is free to rotate about the zaxis. A force F = 10j (kN) is exerted at C by the person. Determine the tension in the cable and
the reactions at A.

Problem 4
The pressure force exerted on the piston is 3 kN toward the left. Determine the couple M
necessary to keep the system in equilibrium.

Problem 5
The coefficients of friction between box A and the ramp are s = 0.30 and k = 0.25. Knowing
that the weight of box A is 400 N, determine the range of weights of the box B for which the
system will remain at rest.
