    partinourCommunityEngagementefforts.TheywillworkalongsideourCommunity
    EngagementTeamandadedicatedgroupofstaffmemberstoachieveouroutreachand
    educationgoalsforLosAngelesDepartmentofWater&Power.Thisisagreatopportunityfor
    anyonewhocaresabouttheempowermentofSouthLosAngelesresidentsandwantstolearn
    newskillsandstrategiesforengagementandconsciousnessraisingaroundcommunitybuilding
    opportunities.Asintern,youwillgainexpertiseincanvassing,acquirebeginningskillsin
    specificorganizingtoolsandtechniquessuchasunderstandingdifferenttypesoforganizing
    goals,rolesandorganizingstrategiespublicspeaking,doortodoorengagementandworkingin
    SouthLosAngelesneighborhoods.Thisopportunityisidealforpeopleinterestedandwhowant
    toexploreacareerinprogressiveorganizing.

    Responsibilities:
    Theresponsibilitiesoftheinternmayincludebutarenotlimitedto:

    Helpingtocarrystreetoutreach,assistingincreatingmaterialsforoutreach.
    Conductingoneononesandstrategicphoneoutreach.
    Conductingpresentationandworkshopsusingpopulareducationmethodology.
    Abilitytomeetworkgoalsindependentlyandwithinateamstructure.
    Assistingwithdataentryandotherclericalduties,asnecessary.
    Abilitytounderstand,usereflectivelisteningskillsandcommunicatetheneedsof
    lowincomeresidents.
    Qualifications:
    Theidealcandidateshouldmeetthefollowingcriteria:
    Musthaveahaveapassionforsocialjusticeandbeabletodemonstratehowyouveparticipated
    insocialjusticeactivities&wanttolearnsolidskillsinthefieldoforganizing.
    Mustcommittoworkingupto3hoursperday,lateafternoons,eveningsandweekends.
    MusthaveculturalandlinguisticcompetencytoworkwithSouthLosAngelesresidents.

    Excellentinterpersonalskills,communitybuildingskills,publicspeakingskills,andconflict
    mediationskills.
    Mustbedetailoriented.
    Mustbemotivatedselfstarterwhoisreliableandhasgoodcomputerskills.
    Previousoutreachand/ororganizingaplus,butnotrequired.
    FluencyinSpanishaplus,butnotrequired.
    Useofacarforowntransportation,butnotrequired.
    Compensation:
    Astipend,notsalary,ofupto$160dollarswillbeprovidedwhileintern
    receivesworkforcedevelopmenttraining.Thestipendisnotnegotiableanominalfeebasedon
    hoursandworkperformed.Consistentpayscalewillbeappliedtointernsbasedonthedegreeof
    effortonthepartoftheinternovertheoneweekperiod.
