Stevia Cultivation Training

VA

A detailed study on Stevia Cultivation derived on the basis of Practical Application, the
costs as demonstrated in the last slide i.e. economics of stevia cultivation may vary
according to area of operations.
The study has been conducted keeping in mind the most basic principles of farming and
the same has been demonstrated by way of easy to understand photographs.

Prior to receipt of Stevia plants the land

was initially ploughed and then raised
beds of 1 ft. high and 2 ft. wide were
prepared using a tractor on which
approximately 2 tons of vermicompost
per acre was used.

We prepared a solution by mixing

1kg Trichoderma in 20ltrs of water.

After mixing trichoderma we mixed

approx half kg vermi compost in
water.

VA

After mixing trichoderma and

vermicompost in water, plants were
dipped in the solution and taken for
plantation therefrom.

Plants were then taken to field for

plantation on raised beds.
Plants were planted by sowing the
roots vertically into the soil keeping the
tip of the plant facing the sun.
The soil where the plants are sown
should be of low Ph value ideally 7 to
10.
Stevia Leaves are not infected by Pests
due to their very sweet nature.

Roots are affected by excessiveVibha

Agro
and hence water logging should be
avoided. Plants should be watered once
daily in winters and twice daily in
summers. If Canal or Flood irrigation is
used then plants should be watered once
in a week.
Plants will take approximately 2 months
to grow. Next few slides will take you
through various growth stages of stevia
plants
